Pros

I get to develop a relationship with patients. I see them in their homes, meet their families and pets. I have learned a lot about rare conditions and specialty medications.

Cons

Our parent company, CVS, has grown revenue during the pandemic, yet we aren't paid at the going rate for nurses in this part of the country. We have been short-staffed as long as I have worked there, and continue to hemorrhage nurses. NINE have quit so far this year. The onboarding is awful, the leadership is terrible, and the expectation is to see patients all day then finish admin tasks at home. There is no work/life balance.

Pros

Carrying “CVS” on your professional resume Fast advancement due to high turnover A collection of really great professionals, far outweighed by nasty, incorrigible bean counters

Cons

Every aspect of individual performance is metricized Pay and bonus far below industry average Career advancement only reserved for pharmacists Inappropriate/old/ineffective training, most of which was designed to support a far-outdated and inefficient administrative healthcare program. Expectations set far higher than training level provided, punitive ramifications for failing to meet these expectations
