Pros

The people in the Santa Barbara office were great. Cox used to be very family oriented.

Cons

They cut jobs when they were making money in the industry. The corporate people took advantage of the downturn in the economy to lay off many good people. They only think about the bottom line now. They no longer care about the employees that work for the company.

Pros

9-to-5 and weekdays work schedule, can refuse to do work without repercussion. Low stress because management is satisfied being #5 in the cable/satelite industry. If you are unable to track project budgets well, this place is for you because the budgets are guess-work.

Cons

If you have ambition to achieve or work for top-tier company, you will be frustrated here. Project financial management is so unorthodox, it really isn't managed. Good place to learn what NOT to do because that's the "best practice" at Cox Communications. Union mentality, 9-to-5, weekdays only, no competitiveness to be #1 company in industry, job security contributes to lack of competitiveness, good talent leaves company leaving the less talented to be promoted (Peter's Principle survives well here), penny-pinching company.
