Pros

They leave no doubt as to what to do - it is handed to you and then spoon-fed weekly, monthly and quarterly. If you like strict dogma and razor clear direction on almost all aspects of your job - you will LOVE this place. They have a very serious and effective approach to employee safety.

Cons

Absolutely no individual creativity, discretion or innovation is permitted or tolerated. Any and all actions that are not from the CEO and his team are stomped out and those who do not comply are belittled and embarrassed sometimes publicly. They communicate a lot - but it is all downward - there is little tolerance or appreciation for upward communication. Extremely hierarchical organization. The culture is one of aggressive arrogance by the core management team. They "manage out" those who do not fit their "profile" -and please understand it is a narrow profile. For those who do not know the term "manage out" - it is used to describe a way to avoid paying severance by inducing people who are redundant or a poor fit to quit by making their lives miserable and intolerable. Most decent companies agree to part terms amicably with poor performers and move on. They make a big deal about the RT Crane resolution ( a business code of ethics) - but their interpretation of the words in the resolution are clearly on the margins. They read the resolution and it is posted everywhere. Like other codes of conduct - it is meaningless without proper implementation. Their benefits programs saves the company a lot of money but places an inordinate amount of risk on the employees. Their health insurance is at or near the bottom of any large company - but it does save money for the company. Employee relations is an afterthought and not a cost of doing business within Crane Co.

Small-time feel. No formalized structure. Lack of protocol or processes allows certain freedom if you sell ideas

Cons

Lack of management focus. High probability of frequent financial misconduct at upper management levels Corruption "Old boys network" No real organizational commitment to goals. Excessive propaganda and too much misconduct.

Pros

Some people in the specialist and lower level positions are genuinely really kind and knowledgeable; we all help each-other stay sane. It’s a shame that upper management is too afraid to make change and speak up for the better of their teams. Someone really needs to to stop and recognize/reward their employees for good work! The work really isn’t that bad, it’s actually enjoyable if you’re working with the kind people I mentioned above. However the environment and policies really make coming there every day a true nightmare.

Cons

The Cincinnati office has one of the most toxic, abusive office cultures I have ever seen. There is nothing “human” about the human resources department—they are very focused on micromanaging every aspect of your time in the office with no regard for who you are as a person or what is going on in your life. Salaried employees are mistrusted and treated like hourly fast food teenagers. The company itself is convoluted and cheap, very disorganized. Only focused on pleasing the higher ups, and the higher ups seem to only care about climbing the ladder and not making waves because they want to cover their own positions. Anyone who speaks up and tries to change any process for the better will be shot down or fired eventually for some silly reason. This is the kind of company where you will stress about being 30 seconds late, where you will come to work despite having the flu for fear of taking sick days, that will destroy friendships you have with coworkers, where you will miss appointments and skip lunch because you are afraid of getting punished for leaving the office. They target young people right out of college....Don’t fall into the trap, just stay far away.
