Generally nice people. Does great work Ok, professional development sessions and cool lunch with the CEO Good stepping stone to build the resume

Cons

Disorganized Some host are unclear about why they have an intern and unclear about the research project component of internship You get paid at the end which isn't conducive to living in DC or any type of adult life in general. Well, wait interns still have not be compensated and internship is over. It's now going on two weeks without pay and they've yet to confirm a day they will pay the interns. Didn't do any 'real' work in the company just researched all day.

Sweet coffee machine Relaxed Attitude Very Capable and well educated co-workers My manager was really cool

Cons

Complete lack of direction I spent my entire summer working on a project that nobody really seemed to understand the point of, and by the end I realized it had all been a massive waste of time. Everyone seemed to be in there just as a placeholder till they could find something better Senior management is rumored to be entirely run by the family of the founder, and that might explain the lack of direction I experience

Pros

Great mid-level and junior staff who really care about the work. Very mission-oriented. Small family style atmosphere that allows for friendly interactions among all levels of staff.

Cons

Finance and contracts departments are led by spoilers who are disinterested in addressing problems or improving systems or even growing with the company- knowledge of contracts is not deep; no desire to hold others accountable in the company and would prefer to maintain relationships. Finance decisions can be arbitrary and painstakingly slow; mistakes difficult to address on all levels in non-program departments.
