Pros

Defined Core Values - Specifically be Direct, Confront the brutal facts, Those that do the work know the most about it. Don't shy away from difficult discussions.

Cons

Although often times those things stated above are true, there are many times when the environment doesn't feel safe. Those that do and know the work aren't respected, your direct approach isn't valued and doesn't want to be heard, and in some cases you shy away for fear of retaliation.

Pros

The pay and bonuses are great! The hours and flexible schedule are EXCELLENT!!

Cons

Uneducated, incompetent, and inexperienced staff. Supervisors hired from outside of the business who have no idea what they are doing. If you're fired from Chrysler Financial or Verizon Wireless' call center, you are a guaranteed hire. No developing of potential management. Medicaid offers better health and dental benefits. There is no effort to try and hold on to seasoned collectors.

You can do better elsewhere

Pros

If you have children you need to feed in a depressed metro Detroit or Las Vegas economy, Credit Acceptance is an option because it's a financially stable company.

Cons

Constant downward pressure to reduce headcount. Not much understanding of the fact you need people to do the actual work. Management consistently uses performance management to reduce headcount to take the easy way to getting lean. Going from an above average review rating (4-3.5) to an out the door rating (2.5-2) in one quarter is a fairly typical tactic. Despite all this they are very process heavy and could write the book on micromanagement. Pro's from when I started two years ago such as benefits and training have been scaled down, other things such as the annual Christmas Party have been eliminated despite record profits.
