Learned a lot working at CK

Pros

- CEO is a genuine person who will always put the Mission of CK users first - Fast growing company with difficult challenges (engineering, culture, organizational) - Company does its best to take care of its employees

Cons

Let me split this into two parts. This is for the reader: 1) If you are challenged by presence of ambiguity and change, then you will find it difficult. And if you find handling difficult things not your cup of tea, well, you are going to be one of the others writing the negative reviews. Change happens in a growing organization. So be prepared to deal with that. This is for CK: - CK needs to find a better way to recognize and reward the people who "walk the talk" really well. I know its a hard one.

Politics and Incompetent Managers

Pros

There are free snacks. Lunch is pretty much free every day since no one checks whether you are in a meeting or not.

Cons

Bad managers throughout the company make it a bad place to work. Incredibly stressful environment. Politics and backstabbing is common. Meetings take up most of my day. Honest feedback is not appreciated. Talented people are leaving.

Long-term employees are leaving or being pushed out

Pros

None beyond the perks already mentioned.

Cons

The heart of the company is slowly being ripped apart as long-term employees with deep institutional knowledge have quit in frustration or been let go. Terrible managers play politics and favorites and seem only concerned with covering their tails even if that means throwing employees under the bus. The future is looking dimmer everyday as there is no apparent plan to go public. New layers of management seem to be added every quarter to muck things up even more.
