Pros

I came from a company that was truly toxic, where the management team were bullies and did not care about their employees. Where people worked long hours, had no work/life balance, were micromanaged and constantly felt that their manager or executive team was out to get them. Crown Castle is the COMPLETE opposite of it. The executive management team at Crown CARES about what is going on at the individual level. One example of this and how they take time out every 3 months to take questions from the employees (ranging from technical questions to benefits to even asking for school debt repayment) and address them as fast as they can. Trust me, Crown is not how some of these comments describe it to be. The company has grown a lot and of course there are some growing pains that come along. The company is on track to only improve and get better. I believe that some of these negative comments are stemming from people who don't adapt to change well and instantly blame the entire company for their frustration when perhaps it could be resolved by discussing with their manager /director etc. or by taking a step of action to resolve the issue at hand. Crown is amazing. Our CEO is so down to earth and truly cares about IC. The company has invested lots of money in technology and development opportunities so that people can work more efficiently and grow in their careers. I have been blown away by the kindness of the people here and how willing they are to help you in whatever you need. Work like balance is great. Work schedule is flexible. The benefits are fantastic. I am grateful to be working here.

Cons

It can be difficult at times for contractors to find full time positions which can be disheartening for contractors because they want to work for Crown full time as they see what a great company it is. Sometimes the interview process can take too long.

Pros

401k match, gym reimbursement, good health insurance. Stable if you aren't a contractor.

Cons

Favoritism, weak HR. I wait fifteen minutes for someone to answer the ringing HR hotline and it automatically hangs up. HR very slow to deal with race and sex-based harassment. Certain tenured males talk obscenely about females when not in "mixed" company. Internal communications doesn't include the pronouns of the movers and joiners. Based on the list's first names, Crown hired twice as many males as females. For movers, more males "moved" positions than females. Why is this? Poor on-boarding, limited employee development. My co-workers walk up to my desk crying from stress. They have called me after-hours drunk and crying about work. IC job descriptions balloon without an equivalent increase in compensation. New contract employees make more than tenured employees in equivalent positions. Not how you reward loyalty. What happened to employee reviews of managers?

Pros

The employees in most of the offices are great. I still talk to many people I worked with at Crown, and most of them are hardworking, knowledgeable, fun, and great to interact with in the day to day grind. The health benefits were great, compensation could be good depending on your role and team.

Cons

Leadership- There are some good managers to be found throughout the organization and you can sniff them out pretty easily, but overall there is a void of leadership within Crown Castle. It is evident that the sub-par leadership is not confined to one area, team, or group. It is an issue across the organization. Read the reviews on this site, they are more honest than the employee survey. It is also not surprising to see the leadership attempt to cover up the negative reviews with the positive ones. Communication- Leadership at Crown Castle SAYS the right things (or says nothing at all), but it is in their actions, or lack thereof, where you see the truth. The B3’s are talked up from management, but the actions behind them are lacking. Growth/Advancement- this is a “Who you know” culture. I personally have seen multiple roles filled by people with limited background for said role, while those with a proven track record of success are passed over for irrelevant reasons. Diversity- there isn’t much. Training- It is a sink or swim environment…or maybe float in a group with people that can help keep your head above water, hoping someone in a leadership role does not push you under. Culture – I sought out Crown Castle as a place to work when I started there. It was known as a great place to work and have a career. Somewhere you wanted to be. At this point the line to get out is longer than the line to get in. Many people have begun to leave, or left, and leadership will say it is because they “are not on board with change” . Many of these people (of which I am one) are more comfortable changing their entire employment than staying in an environment and culture that has become increasingly toxic and stressful. They are fine with change, it is poor leadership, lack of vision, and lack of support that they were looking to leave.

Thank you for sharing your view and I wish you every success in your new role. I appreciate you taking the time to write such a thoughtful and detailed review. Feedback like this is taken seriously, and we look to use it to improve key aspects of our business. One example of this is learning and development (which you highlighted). Feedback on the desire for more comprehensive learning opportunities led to our announcement earlier this year that we were going to invest in building out a new approach that will better meet the needs of our teammates.
