Pros

The benefits are great. Good healthcare and other core benefits, but in addition there are things like milk stork and tuition reimbursement. Bonus has been consistently over 100% for a number of years, which can’t be said in some other companies I’ve worked for. The vast majority of people are great to work with. Compared to other businesses, there’s far less office politics and generally people are all aligned around a single goal. The work environment is good, if a little structured and hierarchical at times – though that seems to be improving.

Cons

The company has grown fast and struggled to efficiently absorb some of the companies its bought. This has also led to some issues with culture – people who were used to doing whatever they wanted are feeling unhappy with having to behave like a grown-up business.

Thank you for taking the time to give us some really thoughtful feedback! We appreciate your views and agree that our people are pretty great to work with, and that we offer some exceptional supplemental benefits. One of our goals in Internal Comms is to communicate with our teammates to help reinforce our B3 values and one company-one culture mindset – we’ll keep it up! Please keep sharing your thoughts through our intranet, team meetings, and during our regular Company Conversations.

Pros

Majority of those I work with are great people...consider many to be friends not just coworkers. Good benefits, 401k with company match. Relaxed office atmosphere - many company outings, potlucks, etc.

Cons

Company grew too much too fast in the last couple years, and has become extremely political. Much of the "Crown Family" atmosphere has disappeared. I have held the same title for 5 years with little to no opportunities for advancement, despite the fact that I am already doing the job for the role above me (which my boss regularly acknowledges, but doesn't give me the title or the pay...) Crown says you have to "drive your own development" and will dangle the carrot of another opportunity in front of you to get you to do more then yank it away and say you didn't do enough to drive your development. No such thing as a promotion, you have to apply for an opening and do a series of interviews, including a behavioral panel, which all doesn't really matter because they usually already have a favorite picked beforehand (regardless of their ability to do the job).

Once a great company to work for but has since lost its way.

Pros

Company use to have a great culture.

Cons

First 2 years was the best company that I had ever worked for. Things started to change when they got too ambitious and starting buying out several other companies in a short period of time. It wasn't a bad aspiration but doing so in such a short timeframe made them overextend themselves and made shareholders publicly question company leadership and philosophy. By my fifth year they had to cut spending by 20% while still producing and making $. So logically the cut from operations which doesn't technically make money (we just keep things running to allow money to be made). So in 2020, a week before Thanksgiving, Crown Castle laid off about 450 employees (nationwide) in one day. I'm sure that looked great for the 1st quarter of 2021 but eventually networks need maintenance & repairs. About 2 years leading up to that point the culture started to change from interdepartmental teamwork, assuming good intent and celebrating completion of common goals, to a typical scapegoating, everyman for himself culture. It's been a few years since I worked there, so things may have improved but beware.
