Rapid Growth and Untapped Opportunities

Pros

The company has been through some org shifts and typical growing pains for a fast moving, innovative company. I see these changes as natural and a good sign for the most part. It seems like we are making strategic efforts to hire quality candidates who can bring in a fresh perspective and quickly pick up where the gap is, props to our HR team. I love the sense of unity within the company, we're all working towards a common goal of solving a problem that has never been accomplished. I feel so grateful to have joined the team at Cruise with great benefits and an opportunity to contribute to a meaningful future. I've also been lucky that my team was quick to embrace me and have a good working relationship. There has been some surprising changes but upper management seems to have clarity on quarterly goals and how ICs can contribute. I am given the autonomy and platform to leverage my experience and skills to grow professionally.

Cons

Finding a work/life balance can be difficult seeing that we are still working towards perfecting tools and processes internally. I can also see for those who have been around through so many changes feeling "burnt out," but that's a common experience among many others in tech. I don't think any of the Cons are unique to the company.

Pros

Pay it above industry average Food is good Benefits are okay

Cons

Rewards short term hacks than long term thinking Career growth is purely on how well your relationships are with managers and how you navigate internal politics Tons of incompetent engineers, who just got in because they know someone Leadership is very immature and decisions are changed randomly

Roadblocking Infrastructure.

Pros

The product is innovative. Colleagues are talented and chill. Everyone is motivated to move the needle.

Cons

Lack of accountability and micro-managing from senior leadership has created a roadblocking infrastructure where company progress moves at a snails pace. Resources aren't properly utilized, priorities not clearly communicated and seemingly misaligned with company initiatives. I agree with a previous review stating their inexperience to solution seems to be "hiring more people."
