Pros

You will learn some good sales techniques

Cons

Is all a scam, the memberships and training run on a “sign them up then forget them” approach. Don’t care about member experience, how well they get trained, etc. Expect you to work 6-7 days a week for 8-10 hours each day. Will force you to hard sell members. Hired trainers and PT manager would help them cheat on their certification test. Did not care about quality of training. Takes the approach of quantity over quality. Advancement solely depends on who your manager is, if they don’t like you or aren’t proactive, you will never advance

Pros

Teaching to the members of this gym is a joy and the only reason I’ve continued to instruct at this location.

Cons

Management is terrible. From the group fitness perspective as well as the general manager level. They don’t care for the health or well being of the members. We are in a heatwave right now and the gym is very hot. The group fitness room is dangerously hot for any kind of cardio class. The gym itself is filthy. Bathrooms are always dirty, stalls are broken and faucets don’t work. The entire place is a health code violation.

Pros

There is only two good thing to working at Crunch, and that is getting to connect with members who understand what it must be like to work for such a business. I was quite close with many members and after my leave, many cancelled their memberships in support. Two, your co-workers. I got along with all my co-workers and appreciated them dearly.

Cons

Crunch Fitness is a corrupt, money-driven cesspool of terrible management and a joke of a work environment. I was lied to consistently, berated for responsibilities that were not my own, disrespected and NEVER received a thank you for my consistent efforts to please management over my months of employment. Prepare yourself to deal with belligerently furious customers on a daily basis because Crunch implements horrendous pricing policies on their memberships with hidden fees, cancellation fees, pretty much any fee they can tack on, they've done it. And guess what, it's your responsibility to call those customers and collect money. I was threatened numerous times by members. They will pay you the bare minimum and find any excuse to not pay you more money, even after claiming they would. You are simply a piece in their game and they will happily throw you away for a college student who will settle for it because it's an "easy" job. In my months of employment, employees were not rewarded for our sales efforts, and instead when hitting goal marks our managers would receive bonuses. For anyone considering working as a Personal Trainer, DON'T DO IT. Guess what, when Crunch has sales on PT packages, the discount comes out of YOUR paycheck. The split for your PT pay is also abysmal. Any clients you build will be taken from you at a moments notice. I cannot emphasize this enough, do NOT work at Crunch fitness, and stay as far away as possible from becoming a member. Go work at any other fitness facility. I can't speak for other locations across the states and only can speak from my branch experience, but I have a feeling it's quite similar...Crunch is a dirty corporation who hires toxic, unexperienced individuals and focuses solely on gaining money.
