Pros

Stable company, not fussy about qualifications

Cons

Low standard of professionalism. Keeping senior staff with no proper qualifications resulting in low quality delivery. Back-stabbing. Divisions that don't work harmoniously. Culture of pushing jobs around to others.

Pros

10+ years with the company. The company itself is pretty secure. Solid products, strong customer base, almost no debt, no radical risks, and lots of cash on hand. If you conform and keep your nose clean, you'll probably have a career at Cummins. Production support exempts can get a little overtime pay on weekends. A lot of training and opportunities for learning and growth. Best community involvement I've ever experienced with a company. Impressive diversity and treatment of workers globally (air conditioning in India plants, women engineers and women leaders in other countries...).

Cons

Several positions are "revolving doors" the company had to change policies to lock people in positions for at least 2 years. There are obvious "gravy" jobs that are 9-5 in the main office building, I know because I've had them. Production support exempt jobs are the worst, you can expect to put in 50+ hours consistently, often much more, I know because I've had them. I've worked 7 days a week for months in a row supporting manufacturing. Forced rankings will destroy morale. I've had a 1 and a 3 and lots of 2s. I worked harder than I ever had in my life when I was stuck with a 3. I reliably performed my job when I was ranked a 1. The difference was management interaction - with my "3" manager, he had a 1:1 with me twice in 12 months and was never available and I always completed all projects on time and on budget. He basically told me it was my turn to be the 3 in the department. My "1" manager met with me weekly to review projects, assignments etc.

Pros

Good place to learn something new

Cons

Seem to be a culture of backstabbing among the different functions.
