Pros

-Good leadership team -Loyal customer base with clear product market fit -Generally, no micro management -People work hard here

Cons

-Avg work is accepted in a regular basis. -CEO is one of those leaders that post on LinkedIn about how to be a great leader rather than build a great company -Leadership team is stifled by how things have been done vs how high growth companies work -Limited TAM and marketing regularly has to create nonsense urgency to hit targets -If you disagree with a strategy, CEO will make sure you are your ideas are minimized or you are fired. -Misguided PLG strategy -Health benefits for families are a joke

Thanks so much for taking time to give feedback. We do appreciate your feedback on the health benefits for families. TBH...you were the first family with a large number of kids that we had at Curate so it was a new subject we hadn't worked with. Because of your feedback, we were able to get a dramatically better new Health Insurance offering that assisted families better. To be frank, your comment on here about LinkedIn sounds like you were still in a bad spot a year after you transitioned out of the company - especially since I rarely post on LinkedIn. I hate it if my actions led to where you're at. To the point of the nonsense urgency to hit targets: you were our VP of Sales. It became urgent when our August 2021 new revenue was less than the previous year. The previous year when we had no VP of sales in place and we were selling into the event industry in the middle of 2020. With your direction, we nearly doubled our total compensation package for our sales team members - which would have been a positive but new revenue didn't follow. Unfortunately, we do have to look at the ROI being driven by roles and departments as they drive that urgency. Thanks for taking time to put this review up and I wish that things had turned out differently during your time here. -Ryan

Pros

- Fun and interesting industry - Individual team leaders are experienced and engaging. You can tell they care about their people - Lots of autonomy to get your job done, depending on which team you are on and who you report to - Unlimited PTO - Good work/life balance

Cons

- All decisions are made by the CEO, despite having an experienced and intelligent leadership team. It often feels like the only opinions that matter are the CEO - The company lacks direction- we are trying to launch a new platform with an inexperienced product team (our Head of Product quit due to clashes with the CEO) - Decisions are said to be "data-driven", but only when the data shows what we want it to - There is a lack of transparency in terms of the state of the company- there have been whispers of layoffs for months, but no official communication - Pay is slightly under market average

Thanks so much for taking time to give feedback! We love that you love the culture and enjoyed working with your department leadership. I appreciate your candor that it feels like leadership isn't given a chance to make decisions. TBH...The reason you had glowing "pros" for working here was because of that leadership team and their decisions on a weekly basis. Decisions like our bonus program for actually taking time off (who does that??) or around the process to move into more of a product-led growth motion to help more small businesses. The new mission statement took months of work to ensure alignment and it absolutely hit the mark. It wouldn't have without a strong leadership team who gave critical feedback that lead us forward. You're right that we have a strong and experienced leadership team and I'll definitely consider how we can do a better job showing how decisions came to be. You mentioned slightly under market pay so it seems the perfect segue about our leadership's impact. Our Head of People pushed an effort rightsizing our pay from a scrappy startup to a transparent process. This was a specific effort she led to bring us up to market average and you received a pay structure adjustment just a couple months before your post. We utilized a data-driven approach and used Carta's pay tool to look at what the market was paying for every role and tier. We'd need more information about what you are referring to when speaking about data. But we do appreciate the perspective! One of the items that was never accomplished in our previous product department was implementing product analytics - in spite of very large investment on from the company. We're thankful for our new Head of Product who has built out some incredible KPIs for our product team and fully implementing Heap (and Amplitude just for the fun of it!). It's given us a deeper ability to see inside of the application and has given him the ability to always pull the company back to our focus using data. Regarding transparency, our mistake many times is overdoing transparency. We give a monthly update to our team about our metrics and cash burn - very rare in the industry (I'll let the reader decide if this is accurate in their current company). We do appreciate your work and the impact that you made on our customers during your time here! - Ryan

Pros

I love my job. The work is fulfilling, the benefits are great, management is exceptional. The work is very challenging but not to the point that it becomes a burden to my well-being or family time. I feel pushed (but not shoved) to learn and grow. Both my immediate team and the company as a whole gets along very well. Everyone is understanding and empathetic with each other. The benefits are pretty good. We have an unlimited vacation policy. But not one of those that tricks you into not taking any time off. We actually get a bonus for taking time off each quarter. The management is the best part though. They have an open ear and care for the employees. When feedback is left, that feedback is heard and action is taken. It is obvious that the leaders in the company want to grow themselves and the company and the employees. They make things better all the time. I am grateful to work here and look forward to being here for a long time to come.

Cons

Not much. Really the only thing is that the health insurance offering could be better. It's very expensive for families and the deductibles and max-out-of-pockets are high for the 'cheaper' plans

We appreciate your feedback!! And we hope the new benefit offerings that we rolled out in 2022, along with increasing employer contributions toward premiums, has had a positive impact.
