Pros

Great start for college graduates. You learn universal laboratory skills and will most likely be trained in all departments which will help further your career. The current staff is very knowledgeable and helpful with operations. You will also have access to a site for further course education. *Only if you're a direct hire* Their original health benefits were amazing, but will soon switch at the end of the year. I do not know about their new benefits. The salary is competitive and, although limited, offer OT. They also have paid holidays. Monthly round table to update staff on company statistics, let staff air grievances/ ask questions, although not often fully resolved.

Cons

Lab management has declined and the lab is currently understaffed during certain shifts. They are slow at performance review raises and cost of living bumps. Schedules are subject to change; there are no permanent days off. There are possible PTO blackout dates that are announced with little notice. Slow movement in the company with limited opportunity to grow.

Poor Management

Pros

- Good pay for the work we do (CLA2 get $25/hr, shift supervisor get $35/hr, general supervisor get $45/hr) and there is 10% differential for PM shift, 20% differential for night shift. Curative only does one assay (COVID), so the work is relatively easy and chill. - They used to have food catering daily for employees but not anymore. - 401k, PTO, and good healthcare benefits for permanent employees.

Cons

- Poor management, favoritism, and lack of planning. E.g. They decided to cut night shift by October 20 and claimed that there will be no layoff only to go back on their words next week. They gave two weeks notice of layoff and cut half of shift supervisors and managers by October 18. There is a lot of favoritism going on with the layoff decision as they kept a manager that have zero knowledge on clinical workflow, is not competent to run patient's samples, but they layoff another manager with a master degree that does all of the clinical workflow and can troubleshoot every department. Also, they have layoff supervisor with an ASCP certificate but kept other uncertified supervisors. It is suspicious that they kept all of AM supervisors but mainly reduce from PM and GY which shows that you need to be in AM and kiss up to certain people to keep your job. - Non-transparency. E.g. whenever staff notice sample decline and ask about potential layoffs in the past, they always reassure us and said there is no layoffs only to go back on their words within a week. This has happened MULTIPLE TIMES in the past and most of the higher ups do not care about the employees. - Zero job security. E.g. They only do COVID assay but COVID won't be around forever, and they already shut down one of the three labs. - Management is unresponsive. E.g. They required PTO requests to be made 2 weeks in advance and people would request couple months in advance sometimes but they always respond last minute or ignore your emails. Also, management is usually never around during the off shifts (PM and GY).

Thank you for sharing your experience while working at Curative. Curative was established to help end the COVID-19 pandemic, and we did an enormous amount of work toward that cause. With COVID testing slowing down, we needed to make some difficult decisions. We do not take the decision to lay off anyone lightly, but decreased volumes at our labs and across the country warranted this action. We thank you for your part in our effort to end the pandemic, and hope that you take pride in that as well. It is our goal for each person on our team to feel supported with open lines of communication from all levels of the company. Additionally, if employees bring forward complaints, Human Resources investigates them in accordance with our internal processes, and all complaints are addressed appropriately.
