Pros

I worked at Custom Ink for 9+ years, and was an Account Manager for the last 5+ years. Custom Ink was an amazing company to work for. That's what kept me there for so long. They care about their employees and do right by us. The only reason I left was to seek further opportunities.

Cons

The only down side to Custom Ink, and I shared this often internally, was their core value of innovation. Custom Ink was in a constant state of change. In some cases it was good and needed. In others it was change for the sake of change, and they often went back on the changes they made. I think it would benefit the company and employees to pull back on change for the sake of change.

Pros

They have great benefits, and an amazing work environment. Free lunches once a week

Cons

They worked us to the bone in 2022, having us work overtime for what amounted to 7 months over the course of the year. (We worked 10 hour days for 7/12 months in the year) They also delayed raises for employees based on the promise of a new pay plan. Then in January, when the new pay plan was to be revealed, they laid off everyone in Reno and Charlottesville, all the while maintaining the company had positive financial health in team and company meetings.

Thank you for sharing your perspective and experience with us. We appreciate your feedback and understand that the significant overtime during 2022 was challenging for our team members. Unfortunately, the overtime and the facility closures were prompted by the same factors: consistent staffing challenges and tight labor markets caused by the pandemic. Although we tried to support impacted Inkers with generous severance packages and an extended benefits period, we understand how difficult this experience has been and will share your feedback with our team. Pros

I honestly can't imagine many pros now.

Cons

Probably the record setting years followed by laying off entire locations. You had to know eventually the fun places get to this point, but it's still disappointing to see what CI has become. Congrats, board members. Whatever it takes to make more of the almighty dollars.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Closing our production facilities in Reno and Charlottesville was a difficult decision, prompted by production costs and tight labor markets in those areas, but we tried to support impacted Inkers with generous severance packages and an extended benefits period through the transition.
