      Pros

      Summer, Christmas break, Spring break off with pay. 8am - 3:30pm work day. The true feeling of growth and making a difference in the lives of DC children. THe satisfaction in knowing that your pay is solely based on your degree and years of experience. No salary favorites here. The pay scale is what people make.

      Cons

      You have to teach really bad kids who are'nt motivated to learn and uninvolved parents. Teacher evaluation tool IMPACT is designed for you to fail. The evaluation tool is the average score of 5 - 30 minute unannounced classroom visits in which you are supposed to exceed expectations in 10 content areas. Depending on your grade level, that score is averaged with the performance of your students on standardized tests. Very random and somewhat subjective.

      School Site-assigned a great school site; Principals and teachers very supportive of program; students great; Chancellor accessible and listened

      Cons

      Program Office-weekly 2 hour meeting not good use of time; better job selecting community based organizations; not able to take personal leave in summer; re-assigned to different schools in summer; no raise or salary increase for cost of living
