Pros

Good benefits. Pay is average. Enormous opportunities for technical growth if you are self motivated.

Cons

Management is terrible. The Japanese management can be a mixed bag, but the American management is overwhelmingly horrible. I have witnessed and reported verbal and physical abuse on many occasions. The fact that this type of behaviour is allowed from senior management should be reason enough to stay away. Overtime is excessive. Management expects engineering to be available 24/7 for the slightest issue without any additional compensation. Management will not show up or help. They expect you to drop any personal affairs at a moment's notice and come to the plant at any time. Denso claims to take safety and quality seriously, but it's attitude in practice is much different. Safety and quality always take a back seat to productivity. Over the years I have witnessed many safety mechanisms that have been bypassed. It wasn't uncommon for upper management to demand that safety mechanisms or quality checks be bypassed by the engineering group. Management would conveniently forgets about these bypasses when someone gets hurt or a defective part gets shipped out. I spent many years at Denso. I can't recommend it as a good place for engineers to work.
