LOTS OF OVERTIME...high turnover rate.

6 MONTH PROBATION PERIOD Job description does not match your actual duties. Residential Counselor Supervisor does not support or train staff. mismanagement of residents medications. Threats of violence from residents and guests Racism, open drug dealing, and prostitution inside the residential building don't bother submitting complaint to leadership or union reps nothing will happen.

Pros

No two days are ever the same and there is never a dull moment. The folks I work with are wonderful and care deeply about doing their work well and causing positive change. In my opinion, we have competitive pay - especially given that our standard hours are 37.5/week (not the normal 40). I love how much PTO I get (at 3 years in, 38 days/year), because it really allows me to keep a healthy work/life balance. Also, love that my health insurance is free!

Cons

Change is slow and painful. DESC has been so disorganized and, if I may say, poorly managed for so many years that it is a herculean effort to make any change or improvements while also maintaining the quality of our current work.
