Toxic work environment

Pros

Decent health benefits but stops there.

Cons

I’ve seen the company go through a few leadership changes and each time it gets progressively worse. Quotas consistently go up and commission structure has consistently changed. Product has not been innovated since it was initially launched and they expect AEs to still sell an outdated/ half baked product. Sales, Marketing, product and engineering work in silos. No cohesion amongst any of the teams. Fear management and micro management tactics by sales leadership. Fridays off is now at managers discretion, which means it’s off the table.

Pros

company trip fun for the youth industry events (not successful but its something) success within MSP market (not exactly super growth area) if you like race cars, this place is your jam

Cons

- Product is broken. Critical gaps across solution, customers aren't happy and churn is high. No customer support infrastructure - very high turnover. Zero promotions, zero professional development. Instances of people taking demotions to avoid toxic leadership. Lots of red flags for any prospective employees -Toxic, aggressive fear based management style - doesn't work, sales is struggling to hit goals, only incentive is to avoid being called out on regular team wide aggressive emails, slacks, meetings & phone calls every single day. - strategy, vision and mission are muddled and misguided. Fixes are "TBD" - straight up deception, dishonesty and fraudulent claims from leadership during recruitment. Be very careful here - no ability or avenues for feedback. Any questions on state of the business are responded to with threats of termination (toxic)- hence high turnover -Rotating Fridays off are "optional" so more deceit there - weak use cases -Where are the adults in the room? Toxic workplace simply not acceptable in this day, easily avoidable too -dysfunctional environments, lots of politics, backstabbing and undermining across business units (never seen it this bad before, ever)

Pros

Remote-first culture: being entrusted with the autonomy to excel in one's position without micromanagement has been absolutely paramount to our success. This is truly a rare and wonderful thing, as the world is shifting back to the in-office, butts in seats mentality that has been the harbinger of toxicity, mental and physical health decline, and struggle of balancing work and life. DNSFilter has been doing remote since day 1, 5 years before the world went sideways. I applaud the leadership's fervent support of this remote-first culture! Embracing adversity: No company is perfect, DNSFilter included. We have good days, we have bad days, but in the end we rally together as a team to overcome challenges with aplomb. I'll be frank in saying that we've had some senior leaders in my time here that were not a great cultural fit, whose short-sighted decisions had significant implications on the way the business was operated. Having since parted ways with those leaders, it's clear that the people who are still here care enough to voice their concerns and work with their peers to keep things on the up and up. This tactic of embracing adversity has become one of the company's core values. The product: how often does one get to work for a company whose product has a global addressable market? It's truly exciting to see the value of what we're building, and how transformative it can be for an organization looking to protect themselves from all manner of domain-based threats. Constant iteration and improvement has allowed DNSFilter the opportunity to experience consistent, responsible growth.

Cons

A lot of the things I'd consider listing here have since been rectified through some tough decisions over the years I've been here. There are certainly some team members who seem to be shy about sharing their true thoughts or suggestions on how to improve things, which was revealed in a very transparent "ask me anything" style questionnaire released by the CEO where a lot of team members vented some pointed frustrations anonymously.
