Large firm with strong well known reputation. Flexible time off, lots of friendly fun coworkers, variety of projects to work on.

Cons

Inexperienced management, long days/nights working on deadlines, lack of teamwork, felt like coworkers didn't have my back , wanted me to fail in order to elevate themselves

First, thanks for the comments about DOWL's strong reputation and the variety of projects your were exposed to. We strive to create a work environment that drifts way from the mundane and ordinary. Variety is the spice of life! And, thanks for acknowledging our atypical approach to measuring and following the contribution of exempt employees, not the time that they choose to be away from work. I believe it is one of the features that makes our company special. I am sorry that you left under less than ideal circumstances and that you would not recommend DOWL. Because these comments are "blind", I cannot speak to your experience directly. However, I will acknowledge that we do occasionally work long days and nights to meet the demands of our clients and projects (it should not be the norm). And, we may have some managers that are learning on the job as they are being "brung up" by their mentors and managers. The notion that there are folks in one of our flagship offices that set you up to fail is unacceptable. I will discuss the issue with our ANC leadership to dig a bit deeper and root this behavior out if it exists. Thanks for taking the time to share your observations to help DOWL get better.

Pros

Flexible Work Schedule, Nice People

Cons

- Hard to meet utilization and hours when there is no work. A lot of pressure on designers especially when there is no work. - Cut back on overhead makes it hard to develop young talent.

Thanks for the feedback. Like for many companies, DOWL is constantly looking to create that elusive balance between workload and people. In 2015 and the first part of 2016 the Redmond office was flooded with work and we could not get it all done, then in the latter part of 2016 and early 2017, we had a lull. We can now see the wave building and I believe that 2017 and 2018 are going to be very busy for our offices in the Pacific NW. DOWL has made adjustments to overhead expenses, but rest assured that this is a short term countermeasure. We invest heavily in our people and developing the next generation of leaders and owners and producers and we will continue to do so.
