Pros

Pays decently to start $12.50/hr in 2012 Full-benefits Nice kitchen 1 hour lunches They will bring in lunch every once in awhile, or other small acts to try and boost moral, wasn't really my thing. And from what I gathered from the other techs would have preferred monetary rewards instead. I think the owners mean well, and have their hearts in the right place.

Cons

Too much micro-managing, mainly solely focused on support. 3 managers and 1 support supervisor, none of these people have technical backgrounds, not 1 and this is a software company. The support supervisor will not be able to assist in phone calls. You are the bottom-feeders in support. Was told customers berating/abusing reps would not be tolerated, this is false. Have to raise your hand to go to the bathroom. Training was a mess. It was literally whoever picked the short straw that day and went in a room with all the trainees (they hire in classes (yes this should be a red flag) and some were excellent and others simply went through the motions. The people who passed and did best on the tests were people who found the answers on the network drive. The training made learning the proprietary software especially difficult to learn. A former educator trainee offered assistance on a number of occasions, and was rudely responded to. No room for growth, not if you are in support, that is all you will ever be. As a female, I felt harassed by a certain male techs, another female shared that she reported a tech sending her pics of his privates, he was one of the techs that came on to me, I felt this was acceptable behavior for this company, since he still retained his position, and was even promoted to Team Leader. As a student they were not at all flexible during training, training was like months, so this created conflicts that were up to me to resolve. For some classes they however let me leave a bit early since I started during a current semester. No certification reimbursement. IT certifications do not matter here, guess this can be pro depending on your goals. A lot of nepotism, it's who you know and can be quite clicky.

I just read this and wanted to reach out. We are in the process of reviewing compensation, as we do each year, allowing us to make adjustments to the positive each year. And if someone is being missed in the training and development cycle I would like to know - as we invest pretty heavily in this area - but are by no means perfect. Please let me know in any way you feel comfortable how I can help. Feel free to stop in. Very open to this conversation and getting better. Dan Pittman - COO

Pros

Worked with some cool people in the Idaho office. Plenty of soda in the fridge. They brought in cookies on people's birthdays. Good location in Meridian.

Cons

DRB is easily the worst company I have ever worked for. It was clear from the beginning that DRB management does not care about their subsidiaries or the employees that work for their subsidiaries. This is all despite nice, unifying, but ultimately bogus statements in company calls and emails. The main issue is that they paid their software engineers in Meridian (junior and senior) 40% less than the employees in Akron. So if you're looking for a software position in Idaho, take the salary listed here and adjust accordingly. Given that the cost of living is higher here than in Akron, the subsidiary engineers all are understaffed and overworked, and that a good portion of their Akron engineers fill their time running quick deployments of existing systems, this is ridiculous. DRB management was unwilling to grant resources to their subsidiaries for additional hires. This led to understaffed, stressed out teams across the organization, and turnover was extremely high. The Meridian office was practically a revolving door, with even experienced, well-liked team members burning out about every week and a half (out of 50-60 employees). New management may have done something to address this recently, but it was always the case during my employment. To illustrate the point of DRB being a miserable place to work, look no further than the longevity "incentives" tied to benefits. If you have to take away employer 401k contributions and restrict maternity/paternity leave for employees that stay less than 2 years, you have a problem. DRB is a slow-moving, lazy monopoly that cares very little for their employees. I'd avoid working here, especially for one of the subsidiaries.
