Since changing to Dallas College from Dallas Community College District, the work environment has changed to micro-management style and down sizing due to elimination of jobs.

Just Another Cog in the Dallas College Machine

My colleagues are supportive and the reason I’m still sane.

Cons

Since becoming “one college” (on 7 distinct campuses, faculty can no longer rely on teaching extra classes (extra service) to make up for our dismally low salaries We were recently told that extra service is a “privilege,” not a “right” as the administration set us up for not being able to teach the number of sections we’d previously taught. I was hired within the past few years, and though I had 16+ years of higher education teaching experience (full-time), they said they could only compensate me for 8-10 years’ experience as the new hiring policy capped out experience. I can’t afford to pay rent on my base salary.
