Pros

Lovely group of people, both in the CS team and in other departments. Most people are young (mid-20s to mid-30s) so a great place for a young professional or recent grad. There are plenty of impromptu as well as organised socials. Reasonable base salaries and uncapped commission, as well as a generous bonus if your team hits its revenue growth target. Healthy collaboration culture - unlike sales, nobody is competing and there’s a real feeling that everyone wants to help their colleagues succeed. Role is varied, partly commercial positioning customers for upsell & renewal and partly day to day account management. A lot of opportunities to run your own internal projects too & help shape the team. Good exposure across departments and levels of the business. Great London office location on Strand (the view is amazing). Good career progression opportunities. No micromanagement, you’re mostly trusted to get on with the job but support is there if you need it. Free Bupa healthcare cover, only pay the tax.

Cons

You can clearly sense that other departments are less happy than ours - the sales culture in particular isn’t great as other reviews show. Not enough cyber technologists and it can be difficult to get their time when their main focus is on running trials for new business. No option to get/buy more leave. Allowance is 24 days rising to 26 after 2 years. You can’t take leave in the last 2 weeks of any quarter and none at all in June. Darktrace as a whole is very white and middle class, even in one of the most diverse cities in the world.

Pros

the role is remote, which allows you the flexibility to work from anywhere.

Cons

everything else. [Note: other reviews wrote this, “ - Lacks diversity (If you’re a POC, be prepared to be treated as a “diversity hire”) -Poor commission structure -Harassment from managers (forecast calls are used to publicly bully AE’s) -Low morale across the team -Very few people actually hitting quota -Inappropriate behavior from leadership -Product too expensive for SMB”] FULLY agree. An alarmingly low of reps are hitting quota. [This other review: “It's like a battlefield out here. Every week I come back to work and notice multiple individuals missing. Gone! Do NOT work here if you value job security! They fire people left and right, and there will be no warning - you do not need to be underperforming to be placed on the chopping block and it doesn't matter whether you're sales or IT. Everyone is nervous and wondering whether they will be next. Shady business, gives out PIPs loosely to substantiate the mass firings. They will promise you extra benefits after 6 months or a year and try hard to get rid of you the day before you're due for your first bonus or commission. Those who are not fired within the first 12 months usually quit. If you last more than 5 months you're probably one of the most senior people on your team. When you're not having anxiety attacks over being potentially fired at any given moment, you will be working in the sweatshop! :) ] - The above is 100% the truth and I echo that message as a current employee. There are ZERO bonuses, and PIPs are a constant threat. Additionally, we are 50% below market average when it comes to compensation on the Sales team (base salary). we also have a monthly quota that we carry which means the role is very high pressure, and high turnover. Speaking candidly, 30% of the team was let go in early November 2022 (right before the holidays) with more cuts to come. our commission package was also changed drastically to no longer include renewals or upsells, which gives us an even larger pay-cut during a time of high inflation, and in the midst of a recession. there are no bonuses, and our “20 vacation days” are pretty useless on the Sales team given we are not encouraged to that that time off for fear of missing our quotas. this is not the place to be if you are looking for stability, happiness, or career growth. if you are looking for a company that will be compassionate, will care about your career growth as an individual, or will give you financial stability/ job security that is transparent: this is not the place to be. you can expect to work 10-12 hour work days to try and hit your quota. you can also expect constant change in leadership (due to high turnover), meaning you will be changed from internal team to team every couple months.
