Treat staff with respect

Pros

Met some hard working colleagues

Cons

Staff is not appreciated, there is no equity in treatment and compensation. Senior Management doesn’t care, they are there for themselves and not for the staff or the community. Issues brought to their attention go under the rug. If you get a job offer run to the other direction unless you want to join a circus.

Okay if you only want a paycheck

Pros

Lots of wonderful colleagues who genuinely want to do good work, make improvements, and push Dartmouth forward.

Cons

Leadership is non-existent. Organization is reactive, not proactive. Staff are not respected or considered in any decisions. Blatant discrimination as evidenced by old practices, outdated systems, and archaic policies - all when brought to the attention of leadership swept under the rug with the decision to "settle" lawsuits, claims, or investigations instead of rectifying issue. Smoke & mirrors - will obscure and embellish the truth to hide what is really happening "behind the scenes" such as their staff compensation program which is unethical and creates inequities across the institution (STAFF SHOULD CONSIDER UNIONIZING) No strategic vision or plan for the College so every division/dept runs around working in silo reacting to whatever crisis is happening in that moment, and typically without the resources they need to handle it, as Dartmouth likes to pretend they are broke as well. Nothing is measured therefore there is no accountability on anyone for anything ever, which I suppose could be a good thing if you just want to collect a paycheck!

Pros

Great benefits. Pay levels keeps community pay options competitive.

Cons

The bureaucrats love their status and will protect it at all costs. If you have initiative and/or tend to be innovative watch out, since it’s often not welcomed.
