Pros

Downtown Office, Free Gym Membership

Cons

Culture is terrible, everyone is terrified of being fired all of the time. They hired a marketing consultant, that is supposedly related to a higher-up to solely focus on the Glassdoor reviews. Don't take the good ones for what they are worth - the consultant spends their days trying to find people who actually like the company and are willing to give a good review. They have had massive lay offs in the last two years - only this last one was related to Covid-19.

This company is falling apart due to toxic management

Pros

Access to a free gym downtown was, and the office building was close enough to a number of amenities downtown.

Cons

Let's start off with management. The management culture is straight up toxic. They have outright lied to employees about about bonuses. In the time I was there, it was paid out twice, and it was small each time. Management finds ways to keep from paying it out. Secondly, they are very cruel to their workers. They brought in employees who had been working there for years, and told them that their expertise was valued for a meeting agenda, and then let them go. That day. With a pitiful severance package. This is not the kind of environment I would to work in. This happened after I quit, but I could tell layoffs were coming. This kind of behavior from senior management is unacceptable and abhorrent. Next, the company has decided to become heavily sales-focused, trying to sell more features for its products before they've even been discussed with the development teams as to whether or not the features are even FEASIBLE with our proprietary code. Devs have been leaving or been fired, in the case of our former CTO, because of this drive to push sales without shoring up tech debt or even fully developing an aspect of our product line. Development is suffering because of this sales-driven culture. Many good devs are leaving or preparing to leave. I left because I saw the troubled waters DSI was in. Also, they pay us crap for developing their software, which takes a lot of time to develop and TEST. I bolded that because most of the QA people have been let go, in favor of outsourcing to a company outside of the US. I will say that many of the other negative reviews are spot-on. This company's upper management has decided to turn its back on its employees in favor of quick dollars and spotty sales goals. It's going to tank this company.

Our CEO has transformed this company over the last 24 months and finding the employees that contribute and care about the organization has been his top priority. As a matter of fact, in the last 24 months more than 25 people have returned to DSI in large part because of his leadership. It is unfortunate that some people are no longer with DSI, but you can't argue with our success which throughout our 40 year history has never been better. Despite the mean- spirited way in which you characterize our team, we truly wish you the best.
