Pros

You get to work on meaningful projects that improve consumer privacy. The people are nice and very open and honest. Everyone can see and understand all areas of the business.

Cons

* Founders emphasizes the importance of getting enough sleep and staying mentally healthy yet engineers on my team worked on weekends to keep up with workload. * Onboarding is not structured and I had to constantly bother people to get access to tools I needed to do work (aws permissions, access to test data). * Someone else on my team (who joined after me) did not have all the same onboarding struggles I did, probably because he had worked with some teammates previously and they took him seriously while they blew me off. * Most technical problems are self-inflicted by the founders & their mountain of tech debt (ex: no CircleCI/BuildKite/Jenkins, lots of ignored or unwritten tests, admin dashboard full of bugs no one could figure out, crazypants data model) * Pay is not competitive, especially because everyone's salaries were cut at the beginning of the pandemic.

Pros

The industry of data privacy is growing rapidly, and DataGrail is building a product that stands out in many ways. The leadership team is transparent and incorporates feedback well, ensuring that everyone's opinion is heard and valued. Everyone's time is valued at the company - meetings are only held when necessary but open discussion is still encouraged. Every employee is excited about what the company is doing and this promotes a very positive culture and environment.

Cons

The product the company is building is complicated, and the industry is changing and growing very quickly. Staying up to date on data privacy and understanding exactly how the products work can be challenging at first, but help and mentor ship is provided to all.

Pros

- Founders genuinely prioritize the people, which is how to build a company - Very transparent with information, no secrets - The privacy space is growing fast, and with CCPA coming in, only going to grow quicker - Fantastic, high caliber people. Great to work with and get it done

Cons

- Just moved up to SF, office is still getting set up, but getting better every day - Capacity constrained, need to hire more. The reqs are open though, so it's just a matter of grabbing good people!
