Wasn’t kidding when he said “turn the ship in 2020”

Pros

This job was my dream job. Or at least I thought it was. There are brilliant people that work here, and the company was incredibly well organized internally. Additionally, the app itself is amazing. There’s nothing on the market quite like DataRobot.

Cons

DataRobot is a unicorn. They just raised another $300 million dollars in September of 2019. Any company that has that that much capital and makes the unfortunate decision to cut employees claiming fears of an economic fallout over COVID-19 frankly loses my respect. COVID-19 was DataRobot’s easy scapegoat for years of believing they were untouchable: they grew too fast, spent too much money on office perks, and had one to many acquisitions. Rather than cut those operational expenditures, they played with people’s livelihoods instead. DataRobot claimed they had to make these difficult decisions now so that they could take care of their people later. The connotations of that rhetoric, as a big chunk of their employees get laid off, says a lot about gross ineptitude and emotional hollowness of those at the top. Don’t make this about ‘taking care of your people’. What about your people you just pushed out the door into, as you described it, “winter”?

Pros

Product is great, working from home is very welcome relief, and really smart people work here. Mostly a lot of strong women who are ignored everywhere.

Cons

We have a lot of slack channels. One of them should be about the total inequities we face as females in this organization. Some of the smartest, hardest working, highest performing, best of the best women work here but absolutely none of them are given any credit, acknowledgement for contributions or good ideas, and God forbid be given a chance to have a seat at the boys table. It's now a CEO with his new favorite team of misfit toys and a bunch of AppDynamics men with the same ole, same ole profile: college athletes, and of course, executives now coming in with their big titles and their big compensation plans to boot. The sole female in the leadership team may as well just be considered one of the guys. She gives lots of head nodding, "we believe in you, we want women to thrive here" is just a bunch of nonsense. Nothing has changed. Nothing will change. Keep bringing in the yes men, keep working people to death, and keep putting the women in the box in the corner. Yeah, that sounds like a great idea in 2020!! 2020??? You'd seriously think by now we'd actually consider internal promotions and recognition.

STOP THE MADNESS PLEASE...

Pros

Met some good people, but nothing else. Compensation WAS good, but then they made us all take HUGE pay cuts after the phony COVID layoff.

Cons

-The madness that really needs to stop is the totally fake "Positive 5-star reviews". Lies lies lies lies lies lies lies. If you are smart, you will see through this. I had 100 negative things to say about DataRobot, but I decided that I don't feel like wasting any time on this company. I am writing this post to check the box and move on. NOTE: There is so much negativity out there on this company around the world, if you decide to go there, you are either desperate or dumb or a combo of both. -The CEO approval was breaking 40% and DataRobot reviews plunged below 3.0 and then the silly "Great company.." "Love this place" reviews started popping up.. -This is Amateur Robot. Company is JV all around. -There is NO plan to go public. Your stock will never be worth anything, -Compensation was good until they made everyone (including admins) take huge pay cuts during the "COVID layoffs" -The layoff during COVID was despicable. The company was doing very poorly BEFORE the pandemic. They were planning layoffs and COVID made a great scapegoat. This is a FACT. -They laid people off in the middle of a pandemic with 30 days HC. Other tech companies that laid-off people had the decency to offer HC for 3-6 months or more. This was a few months after they raised $206m... Things that make you go.. hmmmm... -The new AppD leaders are as toxic as the old leaders. AppD is toxifying the software sales industry. They were successful, once. -The leaders are all toxic. The CEO is a joke. Super embarrassing to hear him speak. He is a nobody. -The CEO set a goal to land 2020 new logos in 2020. So an average of 5.5 new customers every single day of the week. One of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Try holding onto the customers that are heading for the exit. -The core tech is not bad, but REMEMBER, DataRobot is selling algorithms that are already FREE. -MLops should be called MLFLOPS. No one has ever been able to sell this tech. -You must be desperate to join this company. Take a job here if you have ZERO other options, but be prepared to not make any money, and then need to find a new job in 9-12 months. -Salespeople throughout history at DataRobot have almost all been failures. They are all leaving because it's not possible to make money. Ask them about performance. Its the worst I have ever seen in my career. -I bet there are more layoffs in the works. Customers are not renewing and reps are not selling and their burn rate is SKY high. BTW - the Ukraine office is SHADY AF. -Again, their technology houses FREE open source algorithms. Why would you pay for this? I would not touch this awful place with a 1,000-foot pole. You are dense if you think this a good place to work, and I can not help you. You need to help yourself. Good luck!
