Pros

- Almost all co workers are nice and helpful - Benefits are decent - The owners are wonderful people

Cons

A whole lot has changed at this once truly great organization and previously amazing workplace. This used to be a wonderful community of likeminded, dedicated individuals who worked together well and deeply cared about each other, the company and the shared mission. A true “family- run” business. Now it is a far cry from that. I am not sure what exactly changed or when this change happened, but it has turned into a cesspool of lies, favoritism and treating employees unfairly without any care for “losses” and human collateral. People are being let go in seemingly random patterns. “Downsizing”, “Re-structuring”, “Re-organization” are just a few of the red flag words. Employees and managers are being turned against each other. Outwardly, they pride themselves in “hiring and firing by their core values”, but that does not stand completely true because some people who were previously recognized for following these “sacred” core values are amongst the people who are now not working there anymore. Truth is: THEY cherry pick and choose who gets “hired and fired” by their core values. If they don’t like you or if management needs a reason – They will just make up a “Core Values” violation and guess what? Out the door you go. They don’t care if things actually happened that way or if a story was made up or falsified. Situations like that have happened far more often than I can count recently. In the end, it’s an At Will Employment and they don’t really need a reason to let you go, BUT don’t pride yourselves on honoring your company’s Core Values when not everybody is held to the same standards. The disregard for human beings and basic decency ripples through all levels of the company. The people that are not being let go are constantly walking on eggshells and many are scoping out the job market because they are afraid of what is to come. Turnover is at an all time high. Often times, qualified people are being overlooked for promotions and they would rather hire from the outside instead of promoting a qualified individual from the inside. Working there feels like walking on eggshells all the time. Don’t make too much noise, don’t put a target on your back, comply with what you are told and don’t question things . One thing I will say is that the owners truly are wonderful people. Good at heart. However, I doubt they know the full scope of what’s been going on. It all comes down to this: Everybody needs to make their own experience, but before you accept a job offer there, be warned and strongly advised that not all that glitters is gold and it is by far not as amazing there as they make it sound.

Pros

Vacation time Many Nice perks Laid back atmospher

Cons

This company preaches about their core values. That they hire and fire off of them. There is only so much truth in that fact. The president, Mike, and the CEO, Tim, always stand in front of the company and encourage a growth mindset. They encourage pushing yourself and that it is ok to fail. However, this all comes with exceptions, of course. I was with Delta for 4 and a half years. I transferred out of a department primarily to get away from a work bully that leadership would not take seriously because the manager was friends with the employee. I was also trying to plan for my future and push myself to learn new things to grow myself and help grow with the company. I transferred to a role that required passing the property and casualty license. Yes, there are requirements that you need to pass each test within three tries. I, like many employees at Delta, could not get them all in the three tries, but went and got it on my own a few short days after termination. Their P and C course is a 40-hour self-paced course that has no teacher. The company does not have a staff member who is an expert in their Learning and Development department to help new hires. Two people offered to help study, but all they did was pull up Google. It is a lot of hard information to teach yourself with no guidance. I spent $127.00 of my own money to try and get a better study guide that was out there. This was actually recommended by many staff members, but it came out of my own pocket. There are new people completely off the street and were even allowed to keep the company computer with a grace period, and were hired back on immediately. I, with tenure in the company, was treated like trash. HR pretty much said Too bad, so sad and made me bring the items back the next day and kicked me out of the company. Before this, I worked at an expo out of state, won a core values award, and was nominated to participate in their emerging leaders program. I was a good employee and a big cheerleader for this establishment. Earlier this year, due to a review on this website, the HR executive stood in front of the company, encouraging people to speak up about problems before going to the internet. I felt like she was talking to me as I was dealing with years of mistreatment by the team lead, and was never taken seriously when reporting to my manager. Over a few months, I made small contact with our point of contact in HR. After this time period, I finally met with her face to face and made a formal complaint about the employee who was being consistently disrespectful towards me and for over half of the team. I can’t help but think that making a formal complaint to HR was a contributing factor to my termination. They will come back and state it was solely for the three-attempt testing rule, but knowing from countless employees, the rule was bent for them, makes me and many employees wonder. Not to mention, they terminated said employee 6 weeks after my complaint and after completing an investigation. I have had so many people reach out to me, upset how they treated me and also employees expressing gratitude for standing up for what was right, helping get rid of a very toxic employee. This has helped a bit with the wounds they caused and justifies my actions and feelings. Essentially, I lost my job and income for working hard, pushing myself, and being honest. This company needs all the cheerleaders in the world right now and they lost one of their biggest ones by treating me this way. Word of mouth is a powerful thing and I will continue telling my story when people continue to ask “Hey! Do you still work for the USCCA?” I will continue to tell my story and the truth. What people do with those words is up to them.

Thank you for sharing your feedback — it is difficult to read, and I am truly sorry this is how you feel about your experience. Based on your details, I plan to reach out personally to ensure your concerns are heard and help provide closure. I want to state clearly that there was no connection between your raising concerns and your departure. As you mentioned, your feedback helped leadership understand the situation and take action. This was not an act of retaliation in any way. The P and C licensing requirement is a regulatory obligation that we must comply with. Rather than requiring candidates to obtain a license before joining — at their own time and expense — we support our employees by providing paid training resources, covering exam costs (up to three attempts), and paying their salary during this period. If an employee does not pass after the third attempt, we must part ways, as performing the role without a license is not compliant. We have not made exceptions to this requirement. In some cases, employees have used PTO or other arrangements between attempts they schedule independently, but ultimately, the license is required to continue employment. I have confirmed that you are eligible to reapply now that you have passed the exam, and I encourage you to reach out if you are interested. I'd also welcome the chance to connect and discuss further. Note: The company does not support any personal character allegations made by former employees. — Chief People Officer
