Okay Place to Work

Pros

Diverse responsibilities keep work from becoming boring. There are also lots of travel opportunities for those interested. This is a great place to learn new things and explore possible career opportunities but don't get comfortable. Good for new college grads.

Cons

Ridiculous hours in the field with no comp or overtime. Expect 70 hour weeks. Projects are horrendously managed and staffed and have unrealistic schedules. Furthermore, this company does not drug test or background check, so expect lots of incompetent coworkers and a management team with their heads in the clouds. Nepotism and a high turnover rate will ruin this company.

Pros

Work can be very diverse, you work with all the disciplines under one roof, and they encourage you to go on site. The atmosphere is very friendly and employees recieve performance bonuses at the end of the year. Throw a killer Christmas party!

Cons

Steep learning curve since the industry is so specialized. Some initial training but mostly project experience is your teacher.

You have to want to sacrifice everything to be rewarded

Pros

Much experience can be gained in a short time. There's always a lot of work to do. You can take on as much responsibility as you dare. Travel. Non-pay benefits and perks used to be good.

Cons

Long hours in the office and the field, with lots of travel to nowhere exciting Unrealistic deadlines Low pay, but there's the performance bonus (ha, see below) Favoritism and politics rule the culture and the bonus structure 40hrs a week is considered "part-time" in the culture.
