Pros

It's a good company with great people (for now) and a great culture!

Cons

The last few years have been our most successful in history. While COVID hurt many, it didn't hurt us. Upper Admin won't stop telling us about these last few years being "our best yet!" However, we are not being compensated accordingly. Our bonuses and raises are at the bare minimum and not sustainable. The Validation dept holds the future of the company on its shoulders by following very strict and always changing security procedures but the role is treated as if it is something a monkey could be trained to do. No wonder everyone is leaving. Many suspect that CEO John Merrel is damming the trickle-down so he can show good numbers to buyers before sell the company. It's gross.

Dear Current Employee, We really appreciate your recognition of the awesome people we have at DigiCert and the work we put into having a great culture. On compensation: we haven’t suppressed any pay rises and have paid out above plan for bonuses over the last three years. DigiCert operates a pay-for-performance culture — the greater your performance, the better the reward — and our bonuses and annual increases are based on market research to help ensure we are providing increases at pace with other companies of our size, revenue income and locations. We’re also continually investing in other ways to ensure our people feel valued and rewarded (benefits offering, development training, etc.) As there appears to be a disconnect between your experience and how DigiCert rewards for performance, please reach out to our People team so that we can facilitate a discussion with you and your manager to address this disconnect. Thanks for your feedback and hopefully we can address your concerns together.

Pros

Many people watch YouTube and Netflix throughout their shift, and so can you! Just apply for a validation position and never expect to communicate with a manager past your interview.

Cons

Management is almost non-existent in the validation department, with close to zero communication with the team members, it has been a nightmare to work here. It seems like the managers and team leads are chosen on the basis of their ability to gossip around the office, instead of actual leadership, working, and communication skills. Hard working employees get swept under the rug and become unnoticed, while the ones that walk around the office, talking about video game gets promoted. There also seems to be a big gap of separation between top-level management and front-line employees; sudden changes happen overnight and employees are only notified through a vaguely written email, which leaves a lot of room and potential for questions. Problem and solutions are almost never discussed with front-line employees, sometimes the customer has to inform us about new changes in the validation process, which I nor my colleagues have ever heard about, where is the supposed "teamwork"? It's also very convenient that some managers go on week-long vacations every other month, during a time witch you call 'growing pains'. The organization is also a big issue throughout the company, I can ask the same question to 4 managers and expect 4 different answers, and it only makes it more frustrating when it takes on average- 24 business hours for me to get a reply.

Pros

Many of the people who work there.

Cons

DigiCert is making some of the same mistakes Symantec made and they don't listen to those who have been screaming it for years. Quality is falling at a steady rate but they are only interested in selling products that are not ready while hoping Sales and Validation/Support will just figure it out for them, and treating the Validation/Support department like they are not responsible for the success of the company. I switched roles because of their excitement in reinvigorating the Sales department and was doing fairly well from what I’m told. I mean, I learned Apttus pretty well and not everyone can say the same. I’m not trying to make excuses, but only 6 months later they let me and dozens of others go with the lowest severance packages I’ve personally ever heard of, which they justify because it’s based on the low compensation plan that they also instituted, maybe for this potentiality. I had worked there for almost 10 years, and I dunno, it just feels insensitive. They did not brainstorm with current management to find a plan that fits the nuances of the unique business. Unfortunately, other people's jobs were the wager. It has been painful watching them repeat Symatec's mistakes while neglecting Validation/Support and instituting changes that do not fit DigiCert's unique model IMO. Change can be great, but this was poorly planned IMO. Perhaps it is not surprising, considering some of the leaders' track records with other companies. Have you been happy working there? Because you're not protected by waiting for them to fire you and offer you severance. At least I'm forced to find something fulfilling now.

Dear former DigiCert employee, First, thank you for almost 10 years of service to DigiCert. We appreciate your work and your contribution to growing the company in that time. We understand how difficult change can be and the changes made to our Sales area were painful and tough. And, after so many years with the company, separation can especially challenging. If you have additional feelings or thoughts about how changes occurred, or you would like to elaborate on your advice to management, please feel free to reach out to the DigiCert People team. Regards, DigiCert People Team
