Pros

Learned a lot over the years. Worked with some incredible people and leadership. Digicert is creating a solution that makes sense and is needed. New hires seem to have a great opportunity ahead. Most direct leadership is great to work with. Colleagues to the left and right tend to want to help each other out. The customers can be super fun to work with.

Cons

- disconnect between C-Level leadership and sales but it is weirdly "acknowledged." - solution is not fully baked but that happens when new products are being rolled out, it is just hard to be held accountable for a quota based on new offerings that don't work...yet. - sales people were forced into roles they were ill-prepared for. - compensation for existing sales vs new sales people drastically different (heard this was a focus of correction.) - An AE/AM is viewed solely as a number on an excel report and not as to what they bring to the table, team and organization or have brought over the years.

Symantec culture is killing us

Pros

Some seriously great technical people here. We are the leader in our area of tech and our competitors are no where near us. Company makes piles of cash.

Cons

Our acquisition of the Symantec Cert Authority brought the absolute worst of California big corporate culture with it. The main culprit is our Chief Revenue Officer and his band of middle management minions. Unorganized, backstabbing, blame game, do nothings who cry and whine when they don’t get their way. These are Sales and Marketing folks who think they have technical skills. They are completely ignorant to how much effort it takes to do these types of tasks properly. BUT YET THEY GET TO HAVE AN OPINION ON HOW PRODUCT IS BUILT?!! WTF? What is really sad is that our CEO seems to tolerate this because the CRO controls the money. We are asked to take it on the jaw because if we complain the Sales and Marketing management might get their feelings hurt. Really hard to enjoy what I do when some unskilled putz gets to tell me how easy it is to build something. To be fair, I have met some great individual contributors in the CRO's org but the poison of the management team sours all of it. I can honestly say my org is not the only one that feels this way. What does it matter though? As long as the CEO and CRO get a fat paycheck when we sell again its all worth it I guess. DigiCert will be a hollow shell of a company by then.

Pros

None. Catered lunches got old quick.

Cons

Speaking for Validation Department. In a nutshell: - Extremely poor management, no clear direction, and limited communication with management unless there is a perceived wrongdoing occuring. - Heavy focus on a broken 'metrics' performance system. Positive/Constructive feedback is nonexistent. - Lack of transparency. Pushed for quality over quantity while increasing efficiency naturally. Was met with a 'do as you're told' demeanor from Team Leads and Management. - Favoritism/Nepotism/Cliquey - No incentives to do your best work - Inflexibility with scheduling - Encountered clock-watching management - No room for innovation/creativity - The actual job can get repetitive, but that could be offset by a less draining environment - Unnecessary office politics. Team leads hoarding knowledge to maintain their own competitive advantage.
