Pros

Depending on your skill set and who you report to, you can really flourish. They have some brilliant marketing people.

Cons

If you have a supervisor you're not compatible with, it is very difficult to succeed. Unfortunately, a few badly placed managers can make a great many suffer. The company in general is reluctant to promote or encourage employees to grow in other directions than the one they were hired for. They would rather hire someone who is already a rock star in that field than give a dedicated employee proper assistance to move into that role. The longer you work there, the more vulnerable you are to being laid off, as loyalty seems irrelevant. In general, they do not have a strong Creative department.

Pros

lots of opportunity for training. Standard big agency amenities, stocked drinks, snacks, beer. Vendors come and go for lunch n learns. Random drinking events. Team Sports.

Cons

They will not promote within unless you play their games. All the politics, I mean all of them. Everyone trying to outdo each other for that shiny promotion. Though you have been doing the job above yours for the last 6 months. If you do get promoted, it will take 6 months to actually see the salary change. Oh, also. For some reason, everyone feels the need to stay super late.

Pros

Lots of young people. Agencies are generally fun and creative environments. Lots of smart, motivated people. Opportunities to learn a lot.

Cons

Margin is everything. Lots of turnover. Compensation is not very competitive. There is no bench so staffing teams is a NIGHTMARE. Core business is eroding but future offerings (e.g. PPC) are still smoke and mirrors. Varied opportunities - make sure you advocate for yourself!
