Pros

Digitas looks good on paper. It has a great plan on how people would be able to grow in the organization. They have a program for people who "fail" and instead of just cutting people off they give them a second chance to prove themselves. They have a policy of 2 weeks off, on top of vacation, for fathers at the birth or adoption of a child.

Cons

It is as usual, it is more important to look good politically than actually perform a good job with the clients. All too often it was proven that is was more important to satisfy marketing's (aka account at all other agenies) conceived demands than to push back if there were demands that we wholly unreasonable. The hypocrisy about this in the ranks of managers is staggering. They tell you one thing initially but in the end marketing is king and technology is nothing. It is showing especially that there are 1 SVP of technology in the leadership while there are innumerable numbers of SVPs of marketing and creative.

Pros

Digitas is full of great people who are super smart and cool too. They also foster an independent work style where employees are able to carve out a niche for themselves based on their own work style. We have cool clients -- all household names -- so when people ask what you do they will be engaged and want to talk to you more about it. It's also a fun and youthful environment with fun company events, free bagels, and lots of beer.

Cons

The work schedules are crazy and it's left to each individual to navigate this for themselves. It's really hard for new people espeically. You have to defend your personal time without remorse! If you do a good job no one will care. i also think that being surrounded by type As all the time can be draining.

Pros

The location and annual volunteer day the entire company participates in. Digitas is very generous with their staff parties as well. Pay is not too bad.

Cons

Very "he said/she said" place. Depending on your employment level ( I was admin ) - you are treated very differently. Digitas is known to fire their employees without formal warnings. They fired an employee 2 weeks before Christmas! Heartless. Moreover, it is very important that this company better train their managers. There is a training department in the education dept which was pretty decent - but the VP of that department lacked focus. I believe she now works in HR. If so, I would highly advise for this company to train these exact managers and HR reps. It is unfair to treat employees the way they do. Asking them to work sometimes 9 hours a day. Although, the overtime pay isn't half bad.
