Pros

Coworkers made it manageable, good experience right out of college, they hire internally for a lot of jobs so you can move up decently fast

Cons

Severely under paid against national average 2 weeks vacation and you don’t get another week until 10 years with company Micro management Did not handle pandemic well-no one is allowed to work from home “no work will get done” Traditional office style and dress code Unless you are in a senior position you don’t get a laptop to work from home Healthy insurance is terrible Unless your name is on the building don’t expect much

Pros

Steady paycheck, great employee discounts, can be fun depending on who you’re working with. Your coworkers will make or break the experience and varies on a day to day basis

Cons

The employees that have been there the longest are the worst. There’s an unwritten hierarchy that they feel entitled to which basically means poaching your sales and if you don’t like it then get ready for your time on the clock with them to be a living hell. They’re like sharks circling and will steal customers you’ve spent time helping from right out under your nose only to ring them up under their number in the point of sales so they meet their quotas. It’s infuriating and there’s nothing against the rules about it. It creates a lot of drama and hostility between coworkers because it’s shady and is so common that making a big deal about it only gets you drama so you learn to just accept it. Dillard’s only cares about the sale, not who makes the sale. That is until you come up for review, then they use your lower sales in comparison to others in the department and that’s why you don’t get a tiny raise or might possibly even get a pay cut.

Pros

Opportunity to learn. I personally really like all of the people I work with on my team.

Cons

No remote work whatsoever. Consistent uncompensated overtime. Nights, weekends, on-call, staying late, etc. Terrible benefits. Expensive insurance. Vacation starts at 2 weeks. You get 3 weeks after 5 years and 4 weeks after 10 years. Only 4 paid holidays yearly. Management doesn't believe in personal time off. You have to burn your limited vacation days for any and everything short of a death in the family. "Unlimited" sick days but you'll get reprimanded after taking your 3rd one. No official HR department. Poor handling of the covid-19 pandemic. Had employees flooding into the office and stores to work in the midst of it all. No consistent or logical pay structure. Trainees fresh out of college are often offered higher salaries than people that have been there for 3+ years.
