Just so-so

Pros

Good discount, access to new clothing before customers, some fun co-workers

Cons

Impossible sales goals. You're expected to follow people around and encourage them to spend more and more, then push them to apply for a credit card. If you don't like that type of environment, this is not for you. There were some employees who were extremely aggressive and move in on a customer you were working with and then "steal" them. Those couple people were the only ones who met their sales goals.

Pros

Brand representative support. Attention from the buyers. Most of the buyers were courteous and engaging. Received a lot of feedback. Hands-on in interpreting sales and associate performance, inventory levels, and manpower. Definitely a plus for business-minded individuals who want to further his/her career in retail. Generous employee discount.

Cons

There was no autonomy in making management decisions which confused associates. Managers were no longer permitted or limited in making minor changes, received unwanted associate transfers, and manager training was not sufficient. Limited technology implementation. Sales per Hour (SPH) is hard to achieve when so many duties are imposed on the associates (sell, merchandise, stock, markdowns). Frequent and sometimes unnecessary corporate visits which detracted from the sales and pending work. (Average of 2 per month, the most experienced was 4 in one month). No work/life balance for managers. Excess of 60+ hour work-weeks. Frequent six-day work weeks.

Horrible experience

Pros

The discount was good. Made some friends.

Cons

Lots of backstabbing, management was poor. Employees are not treated fair. Quotas were too high with little store traffic, so if you do not make your quota they will cut your pay and eventually fire you. Promise to promote but will come up with excuses why you can't be promoted. After working here I never want to work retail again!
