There is ZERO work life balance, they will disrespect you left and right. Your days off will constantly be changed, working 10-12 days in a row is the norm. If you call out upper management will give you dirty looks and make you feel guilty so people show up to work sick and they don't care. I got threatened with termination and written up because I missed work on a day we had a corporate visit even though I was in the HOSPITAL. I wish I could've called HR but THERE IS NO HR DEPARTMENT. You will work 6 days a week at LEAST once a month, working open to close is expected in many occasions. Also, you are not allowed to have more than 2 days off in a row, you cannot push together your days off so going out of town is off the table. During the holidays management must work 6 days a week, and our shifts were in between 10 and 14 hours each. We did this for four weeks and were promised "comp days" to make up for it but what a joke, our comp days are just our regularly scheduled days off but they squished them together for a four day weekend. On Sundays usually only 2 managers are scheduled so we have to open and close the store, and work with NO lunch break from 8:30am until 6:45pm and this is considered NORMAL. My store's turnover rate was OVER 80%. RIDICULOUS. In January they were desperate to save a dime so they fired handfuls of associates and scaled back the full timer hours to in between 10 and 25 hours. These people have to feed their family! Just because holiday performance was lacking, the employees got punished and many of them were worried about how to pay bills! Disgraceful. They pride themselves as a "family company" but nothing could be farther from the truth. This company is the WORST company I have ever worked for, I am counting down the days until I am out of there. They have screwed over so many employees. One employee worked there for over 35 years and they fired her so she couldn't retire. These are the type of people you're working for. Dillard's only cares about profit and the bottom line, they don't give a $%&* about their employees, ESPECIALLY management. It's a grim and dismal place and I can't believe they are in business and that they can get away with treating their employees the way that they do. DO NOT WORK HERE. I will admit it's only just slightly more bearable if you're not in management but either way...RUN!
