A Toxic Work Environment

Pros

- Occasional snacks, coffee, and tea.

Cons

The Work Environment: - Extremely toxic due to lack of HR (Racism and sexism were dealt with on a daily basis). - Forced employee's to submit fake positive reviews on review sites (Glassdoor, Indeed, etc.) once you join. - Received sick days, PTO, and work from home, but were discouraged from taking them. - Colleagues suffered from stress/sickness due to pressure to work overtime (and was not paid for overtime work). - Upper management would bring in more clients than team can handle on a consistent basis, thus leading to stress, overwork, and loss of current clients (after retainer) due to lack of management. - No health benefits. - Upper management closely monitored employee work hours by coming early and leaving late to physically ensure all employees utilized their work hours. - Some employees were unfairly berated in front of coworkers consistently - Heavy favoritism within the work place. Leadership: - Narcissistic and poor leadership - Immature management (Shifting blame to employees) - Little to no training provided (Management expected employees to work & learn outside of work hours) - Even if workers meet their goals, upper management never seems to be satisfied. - Annual performances were only given to employees who did not exceed expectations (these meetings were a way of instilling fear). - Bonuses promised when hired, but were never given.

Directive Response

Thank you for your feedback, we are so sorry you feel this way. As a growing organization, there are some very real weaknesses here and we are taking initiatives to actively strengthen any weak spots. However, I wanted to address a few of your points specifically. We do not tolerate discriminatory behavior, and if you have experienced this while working at Directive, we are deeply, deeply sorry. Currently, we are working toward creating increasingly open channels of communication between the leadership and employees, so that issues like this, or other questions and concerns may be addressed swiftly and seriously. We do encourage a strong work ethic and hope that our team members enjoy and take pride in their work, but we don't want it to end there. We also encourage learning for each individual's personal development and provide time during work hours to invest in learning opportunities. As a leadership team, we show up early and sometimes work late, not as a means to force employees to stay the appropriate amount of time, but instead to lead by example as a leadership group committed to growing daily so that we can provide more value for our clients and own careers. As we build our HR program and focus more on workplace culture, our core focus is on implementing more tangible ways to show appreciation for our incredibly hardworking and talented team.

Pros

A great place to work and great environment with real down-to-earth and friendly people. Nobody is dragging their feet through the door and reluctant to sit at their desk here. It's an open space with positive energy and everyone really invested in the work and collaborating towards the same goal.

Cons

Still not enough cold brew.
