Pros

Thank god for the coworkers I am surrounded by. We all have the same sentiments about Discovery not being the place for us and the fact that we were bamboozled by the belief that there is a positive culture here.

Cons

• People never talked to me about a potential career path at Discovery, yet took the time to speak about it with other team members • I have been told I am not capable of being the position I am • “You show that you don’t care, it’s always an argument whenever I say something, it reflects in your work and I’ll make sure it will reflect in your performance. If you want a future here, something better change.” • Necessary doctor’s appointments are an issue • I had a personal medical emergency and still came to work because I have not felt comfortable with my condition. • I was once reprimanded and degraded in front of peers. • A salary that is impossible to survive on. • The laying off of those who actually perform well and bring in numbers over those who sit around and do nothing.

Great benefits, but too political and a little behind the times

Pros

Loved the benefits at Discovery. They make sure employees are taken care of in that regard. The company also has many of its processes very well documented and organized. In a lot of cases, at the very least, they attempt to promote a culture of openness. Also a good thing even if it does seem fake sometimes.

Cons

The company is living in the Stone Age. They are way behind the times. I worked in every DC office of this company and I can tell you that advancement is pretty difficult. This is coming from somebody who really applied themselves and focused on networking and trying to advance to the next level. I’m not sure of what exactly it takes to advance considering how hard I tried. If you are happy being pigeonholed in a nice cushy job, this is a good place to be. If you want to advance, then you probably need to have the right look or attitude in order to do it.

Pros

In its "former state", this company was truly the epitome of a top workplace. Great people. Great benefits. Great environment.

Cons

It's a new day there now. No appreciation for the longer-tenured employees who really MADE Discovery what it WAS !! And now, these true foundation-builders have been booted out of there.
