Pros

Some of the pros of working for discovery is the teamwork and communication. The program director, Jacqueline is amazing. She has a good work ethic and puts everyone and everything else before herself. She cares about her patients and staff and is always doing right by them. She is kindhearted, empathetic, and is great with time management. She always makes sure she has things done on time and always helps others when needed or if deemed necessary.

Cons

When upper management pulls staff from one program to another program when you're already short staffed. They only care about numbers therefore they will pull you from a program if your program is not meeting number expectations. That overall makes it stressful for the team.

Pros

Rewarding work, great experience, free food. great corporate training, good information management system, great communication between therapist and MHT staff. Some staff are friendly and care about the patients.

Cons

This is a toxic workplace at its finest. I would stay away from here if you are a therapist as there are so many legal and ethical violations that could put your license or registration with the BBS at risk. MHT staff constantly do things out of scope of practice, and are undertrained and in-experienced. Medication is administered by unqualified and licensed personnel at times which is illegal. You will be frustrated here if you are someone who has experience because most staff power struggle and compete for authority. Lots of workplace coalitions and racial superiority complex. Staff are unprofessional and it results in the kids behavior adapting to toxic traits making your job harder. Everyone wants to be in charge and give orders. Staff will throw you under the bus for things you were not taught or trained on, to management. Onsite training is disorganized and not thorough. You will not be taught everything and staff withhold/compete for information making your job much harder, when its already hard working with this population. High turnover, understaffed, low pay, lot of unbalanced/uneven work related tasks. Neglected by lead staff, with no breaks and unfair employee practices. Company needs a consultant. Not up to date in the latest mental health policy, best practices, and education. Kids rights and safety are constantly being jeopardized and denied here. Unsafe facility with no cameras, doors are left unlocked all day, and kids are in serious danger of being harmed. Poorly located in an industrial area with major roadway for at high-risk awol/suicidal clients. They constantly admit high risk patients who need higher levels of care. Not a great place for professional development and longevity. Resume builder job and not a career. I would not stay more than 1 year here.
