Pros

great coworkers, loved my supervisor, good medical/dental/vision benefits, great exposure to interesting veterinarian cases (assisting surgery was cool)

Cons

the pay sucks! turn over is high, this is hard work and long hours, support teams are not compensated enough for what they do

I’m so glad you enjoyed your co-workers and supervisor. Culture is important to Dove and the Leadership Team and we take our culture seriously. We do appreciate your feedback and we are continuing to work as a management team to do a better job celebrating successes. We know the work of a Doctor and Tech assistant is very hard and there are long days that are physically and emotionally demanding. Every staff member is sincerely appreciated for all they do. The TA/DA makes such an impact to our patients and clients and we know we could not run the hospital without you. Dove’s philosophy is to be competitive with wages in the industry and in our area. We also know that this position is usually a stepping stone for employees who are moving towards Tech or Veterinary school so we often don’t have them for long. We appreciate your feedback and we will use it to continue to try to improve.

Pros

-Fun coworkers who have taught me so much over the years. -Dove is innovative and encouraging of new ideas. -I've had great managers at Dove. When I express concerns, they listen to me and try to offer solutions but I've never felt overly coddled or micromanaged. -Our wellness team, which offers different options for self-care in the hospital fairly regularly. Made a big difference for my compassion fatigue.

Cons

-There is a noticeable divide between admin staff and hospital staff. It's gotten a little better in the time that I've worked here, but I would still say it's a significant problem that leads to people feeling underappreciated. -Hard to advance career-wise on the hospital floor, which can be discouraging.

- DoveLewis has an excellent reputation in the community, great name recognition. - Friendly staff - Many opportunities for growth - Great teaching mission, there are always learning opportunities - Fast-paced work environment - Incredible community programs - Wellness support for staff (yoga, art therapy, grief counseling)

Cons

- Sometimes stressful work environment (very fast-paced emergency room- not for everyone) - The nature of veterinary emergencies are often sad and stressful, ability to manage work-life integration is important.
