Pros

I recently had the unfortunate experience of working at Dragos, and I feel compelled to share a candid account of what it's truly like. If you value transparency and honesty, which is what they preach but do not act on, then this review is for you.

Cons

1. Ego Over Teamwork From day one, it became glaringly obvious that the culture at Dragos is more about individual egos than genuine teamwork. Despite their claims of a collaborative environment where everyone's equal, the reality is far from it. The workforce is driven by ego, and those who preach unity are often the same ones who undermine others behind closed doors. The atmosphere is rife with political maneuvering, and you quickly learn that what is said to your face is often a stark contrast to what's said behind your back. 2. Product Performance: A Disappointing Reality As a product-based company, one would naturally expect the product to be a key strength. Sadly, this is not the case. The product is consistently unreliable and falls fort of its advertised capabilities. The deployment process is overly complex, and the system's reliability is nearly non-existent. The scalability issues are so pronounced that its hard to imagine the product being actually usable within the next 5-10 years. Instead of focusing on product improvement, the CEO seems to be the primary brand and product of the company. It's clear that the real investment is in the CEO's image rather than in delivering a functional product. 3. Compensation: An Unfortunate Joke The compensation structure is, quite frankly, laughable. Everyone at the same level is paid the same, regardless of performance. High performers are meant to be rewarded with equity grants and other bonuses, but the vesting schedules make these incentives virtually worthless. It's a system that fails to truly reward hard work and dedication. Considering the toxic work environment and office politics, it's hardly worth staying when you can find better compensation and a healthier work environment elsewhere. 4. Promotions: A Game of Favoritism Promotions are a masterclass of favoritism and arbitrariness. Career advancement is less about merit and more about who you're friends with or who you can impress in the right circles. There's no clear path or transparent criteria for advancement; it's all about navigating the politics and building alliances. Professional development and performance are barely tracked, making promotions feel like a random game rather than a reward for hard work. This arbitrary system leaves many employees feeling stuck and undervalued, with no real clear way to advance based on their actual contributions. In summary, working here is a lesson in how not to run a company. If you're considering a role here, be prepared for a culture steeped in ego, a product that underperforms, compensation that doesn't reflect your worth, and a promotion system that's riddled with favoritism. There are better places to invest your time and talents.

Pros

*the professional services team are some of the nicest most knowledgeable people i have ever met, the individual contributors at this organization are not the issue here. * if you work here the likelihood that you'll actually need to be accountable to KPIs is slim to none because they'll change so frequently you won't need to prove you were working on them. *remote work so you won't need to sit in traffic wondering why you're doing this

Cons

6.17.2024 like a few others here, my review was reported by Dragos HR for being too specific and naming names so I'll keep it as ambiguous as possible while still giving people who want to know what working for Dragos was like the information they deserve to know to make an informed decision. When I joined the organization it was immediately apparent there was a lack of direction and that leadership had no real Idea how to drive an effective sales organization. I was at the company for just over a year and there were two SEPARATE rounds of layoffs where 10% of the company showed up to find out they were being let go immediately. One of these rounds of layoffs was 2 business days before SKO and "leadership" (think C-Level) then proceeded to trash talk some of those who were let go to those of us who were at SKO. *the culture of transparency was completely non-existant, any effort to surface issues was met with more than pushback, it was punished. *Sales org KPIs and process would DIRECTLY conflict with the SOP of the other branches of the company we need to be on the same page with. *the CEO (i cant name names but THE CEO) really cannot be trusted to run this company and the decisions he's made in the short time (a little over a year) ive been there have been so obviously negative that it's put company morale in the dirt and I have yet to see it recover. *lastly, leadership is just completely out of touch. they wanted 100% YOY growth and failed miserably and individual contributors that bled for this org got sacked off to pay for it, this company has such a disconnect between leadership and the boots on the ground and they are already having a hard time attracting talent because they're paying bottom of the market salaries and expecting beyond phenom results, it doesn't work like that and the customers can smell the difference once we talk to them.

Pros

Dragos is distinguished by its 'Community First' approach and a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. The company offers valuable opportunities through internships and broadens employment access by not requiring college degrees. Their professional services team is composed of top-tier talent, particularly in ICS incident response, upholding a stellar reputation in the cybersecurity industry. Additionally, Dragos may indeed be a great fit for those early in their careers, providing a valuable platform for gaining experience in a cutting-edge field.

Cons

Despite these strengths, several significant issues present challenges. The proclaimed open culture is not fully practiced, as questions often lead to private reprimands rather than public discussion. This undermines the stated open-door policy and may cause employees to feel guarded rather than supported. Compensation is not competitive with industry standards, and pay progression is lackluster, contributing to high employee turnover. The company's flagship product, the Dragos Platform, underperforms—being resource-intensive, slow, and glitchy, requiring frequent, disruptive updates. This not only impacts productivity but also complicates work-life balance.
