Pros

It is an excellent engineering company with a strong academic culture. With the strong academic culture the company is always encouraging you to continue to learn both an educational environment as well and hands on job training.

Cons

Since it does have such a strong academic culture they are not willing to always look at candidates that are more qualified for position (with proven track records) because they do not have an advanced degree.

Pros

- Smaller company ~1100 employees - Users are bright and down to earth; desperate for IT support - A few great IT employees but they are undermined and intimated by departmental favorites

Cons

- IT department is dysfunctional; upper-management, including the head of IT (CFO), are inept and incompetent - IT personnel operate within silos or cliques; if they like you you're in...if not you're out of a job - 1970's IT operation; IT lacks customer-centric, business partner approach; IT staff are career techies (back to main-frame environment) with no desire to interact with customers - IT leadership cultivates an environment where "snitches" excel - No teamwork - just a group of mediocre, underachieving individuals
