      stability; company has been in business for > 200 years. Variety of businesses and job types.

      Cons

      slow moving, introverted culture. Company is not growing as fast as its peers and competitors. Limited upside opportunity

      Pros

      (1) Paid well (2) very safety conscious (3) research is supported well (4) super nice people to work with (5) flexible work hours (6) vacation is generous and used at employees own discretion.

      Cons

      (1) Employee rating system: Employees may be rated as underperforming even though they meet all expectations. System causes animosity amongst employees and very low moral. (2) No clear description for path to promotion (3) Respect for People is a core value however it is an oxymoron because of (a) the Employee rating system, (b) the large number of year to year contractor employees. How can you plan your life with a year to year contract, minimal vacation, and no benefits, (c) slashed medical benefits.

      Disappointment in a large company

      Pros

      Dupont is a big company so there is what seems to be a certain level of job security. The benefits and pay are decent.

      Cons

      Despite being a large company if you don't work in the heart of dupont in Wilmington Delaware things are hardly secure. DuPont is an east coast company that doesn't seem to take west coast facilities into consideration when making decisions regarding benefits and policies. Working for a business recently acquired by DuPont I have seen the culture that made working at our site attractive melt away as DuPont policies and mind sets have taken over. DuPont emphasizes respect for people at a high level but in reality the follow through is just not there. DuPont is nothing special when it comes to taking care of their employees.
