Pros

We have a good crew, and managers are generally good. The store environment is good. We get generally positive feedback from customers about the store and our service.

Cons

Unfortunately, the company seems to be spiraling downward, with too much out-of-stock merchandise, confusing and even contradictory instructions and sales, discounts, specials, etc. We are usually in the dark about important details regarding products and specials. The POS system sucks. I worked at another retailer for several years where I saw the same things happening. I think hq management has lost the focus of a few years ago, and that lack is affecting employees' morale AND customers.

Pros

Fun brand. Majority of the people are fun to work with. Growing company.

Cons

Location is in the middle of no where. They say on their website they are located in Madison, but really it's a 45 minute drive from Madison. They're a lot of people in the Call Center and Warehouse that they won't let work over 30 hours so they don't have to pay out benefits. If you work in the corporate area, they won't let you work from home. A lot of the corporate team plays favorites. Although it is a growing company, your chance for advancement does not exist.

Pros

Edgy and exciting way of marketing their products. The entire catalog (and website) are illustrated. A lot of the management came from Lands' End, so most of them were very skilled in multi-channel business. Steve Schlect, the owner, was very open about finances. We had a monthly meeting that showed income and expenditures and discussed ways of improving both of them. The opportunities to prove your worth were pretty abundant. Management was accepting of ideas and willing to implement good ones. The insurance benefits were pretty good.

Cons

A lot of the management came from Lands' End. When higher level positions were open, the often recruited friends away from Lands' End instead of promoting from within. The IT department was not very cooperative with addressing the business needs of the employees.
