Pros

Flexible scheduling, free caffeine dependency, free clothes, relaxed environment

Cons

No benefits or overtime even though you’ll spend up to 32 hours (never a minute over) in that dirty shop. Depending on the management, the only way you’ll ever move up is by playing the social game and kissing up to the managers. Most of your coworkers will be fresh out of high school dude bros or girls who want to work at Dutch so they can “work at Dutch!”. They’re always understaffed because management is graded by corporate based on how low they can keep their staffing numbers, so every shift will be stressful if you’re in a high volume shop. Bad days are pretty much unacceptable and management will try to tell you to “leave it at the door” and let the shop be your “paradise” as if anyone’s favorite part of the day is coming to work. It’s fun for the first few months which we call the honeymoon phase, after that you realize it’s not all sunshine and cupcakes deep down.

Pros

Fun environment. You get paid to make sugar coffee with your friends and listen to cool music. Free drinks (2) on shift. Employee pricing off-shift for drinks. Discount mugs. Free shirts/sweatshirts/beanies every month dependent on the season. COCHA employee conference.

Cons

Dutch expects so much from their employees but do not listen or support them. Boise in particular has an overwhelming disconnect between the people in charge and the people who actually do all the grunt work. Shift leads get a 50 cent raise to get completely exploited. The company says that we are a family and that leads employees to feel indebted to go above and beyond the $7.75/hour pay grade. It is very cliquey. If you aren't in with the regionals, good luck.

Pros

Great flexibility with scheduling. Tips are nice. The relationships you can build with coworkers can be long lasting.

Cons

people that run the business have no business background and believe that listening to podcasts is enough. Management criticism will go 100% ignored. White males have a HUGE advantage instantly for promotion opportunities. The favoritisms are blatant.
