Pros

Caveat to all of the below: If you've never worked at a startup, aspects of working at a place like Dutchie might require an adjustment. Turnover, shifting goals, "moving fast," less structure than you're used to, etc, etc. Coming from some kind of monolithic Legacy Corp to an environment like this can be jarring (I did that two jobs ago). That said, if you like working at a startup, I think you'll love working at Dutchie. And that's because of the people. My role requires liaising with folks from a great many departments across the org, and I've yet to encounter another employee who didn't lead with openness and kindness (maybe I just haven't met the jerks yet?) Everyone I've interacted with is super sharp, good at their jobs, genuinely interested in getting things done, and excited to see the company grow. This is not the case at all startups, and that keeps me coming into work happy every day. Although I never have to go into work, because we're 100% remote (also awesome).

Cons

There have been several tough re-orgs in my relatively short time here, which seemed to be the result of some not-so-great past decisions. Again, a fact of life at a nascent startup. The only other cons I can think of are some benefits issues: health insurance and 401k match. First, the health insurance. It's totally fine! It's not bad at all. But, having had some really really insurance options at previous companies, I wish Dutchie would level-up. And finally 401k match - there is none. Which has been true at every startup I've been at. But here's hoping!

The company is growing so fast that it is hard to keep u with lots of the organizational changes that are happening.

Thank you for the review. At Dutchie, belonging and inclusivity is something we take very seriously. We are very grateful for our Employee Resource Groups, which help drive belonging and community. In 2024, we've expanded the budget for these teams and programming to support their efforts. We're glad to hear you've been encouraged to use our flexible time off - we want all employees to take advantage of it so they can relax, reset, and bring their best selves to work!
