Worst CEO experience ever

Pros

Only working programs at company are those where employees -- both senior and middle management -- create skunkwork projects invisible to CEO (Jeff Mullen). Universal distrust of CEO bonds all employees. We want it to succeed but CEO undermines all trust, initiative, culture and spirit.

Cons

Having worked here for a little over two years, I'm not sure I'll list Dynamics on my resume. As a senior tech executive, I had many options and was impressed by the investment raised, board and staff I met initially. What occurred next is a tragedy for everyone past and present at Dynamics Inc, getting to know the CEO. Walking down the hallway, he'd find some reason to call you out for weakness (even first day), then you walk 10 feet away and other employees would be badmouthing him for his bad decisions and systemic volatility. This general employee distrust benchmarks the company in every division. Not one person I know does not have a resume in play and will share that with others. One senior lead went as far to call the CEO "It," as in: "We should finish this meeting before 'It' shows up." That may seem funny, but it simplifies the amount of vitriol pointed at this CEO. No growth is allowed unless "Jeff" created it, and all deals are "Jeff's," meaning they're terrible deals for the company and any partners. If the CEO had some experience in management, or if the Board of Directors were to step up to remove him, Dynamics would be at the top of the payments ecosystem, without a doubt. Great technology frustrated by the epitome of a terrible CEO.

Not a good company to work for.

Pros

You get paid on time.

Cons

Within the first few weeks of me being hired, I was told that there was going to be turnover, I was the highest paid employee in the department and they wanted to try someone out in the role I was hired into before I would be given the opportunity. It is also common to work 80+ hour weeks.

Pros

I made a lot friends and I learned a lot about the world of payments.

Cons

The engineering management tend to delegate tasks and not problems to their engineers. The issue is these tasks even after they complete don't solve the problem and people just wait for the next task instead of being responsible for the problem. Good companys assign responsibly to solve a problem(with some requirements) to their engineers, so they have a sense of ownership. I don't think I was ever sold on the tech. It's not that it's not technical achievement, because it is impressive. The cards can die, so you will always need back up card just in case. I just don't find the cards to be useful. I think there is another application out there that needs super thin, flexible, low power, and water proof processing that could put this company on the map.
