Where o' where to begin. Here's the bottom line on this company. If you are an intelligent, skilled, hard-working person with any common sense… run FAR and run FAST from this seething pit of despair. Your soul will be crushed on a daily basis, your spirit will be trampled by complete and total incompetence at almost every level (co-workers, "senior" level co-workers, inept middle management, clueless upper management.) It truly is the worst place you could ever work. You'd be better off asking strangers on the street pay to watch you bang your head against a wall to earn a living. Because that's what you'll be doing on a daily basis (actually a desk, but you get the general idea) when you work here. There is zero training, completely ridiculous and unrealistic deadlines, a total lack of vision by middle and upper management, grade school politics, zero advancement opportunities (unless you are totally incompetent—from some reason those people seem to get promoted with ease), sub-par salaries, you're expected to work extra hours regularly (but with no overtime), horrible Christmas "bonuses", ex: (in no particular order): 1.) Gift wrapping kit = great for all those presents you can't buy because the salaries are horrible, 2.) Moleskin journal adorned with Royall logo = great for taking notes in all of those totally pointless and useless team meetings/huddles you'll be having — where no one has any answers, just blank looks and a 'get it done by this date but we don't have any assets or direction or client feedback yet. Go-go-go-go-go-go!' attitude, 3.) Folding lawn chair adorned with Royall logo = Really? A lawn chair? How much money did this company sell for again? $850 million? And we get lawn chairs? I guess at least they had cup holders — great for all those beers/cocktails you'll be sucking down after work just to make it through the week. But hey! They at least feed you greasy, cold pizza when you work late, or have "working lunches" where they provide you lunch—because you know, they don't want you to leave or take a break. Just work, work, work, work to be done. Money to be made. As management walks out the door at 5:30 on the dot every day. Then there's the 'ol traditional "Upper management passing out fruit, ice cream, various snacks" in shopping carts begrudgingly. That's always worth the price of admission. Company meetings are always entertaining. You'll get to watch middle management stumble and fumble on the microphone as they pretend that everything is just great and going smoothly as they perform workplace "skits", be told how great the company is doing and just how much money they are making (none of which you will see in bonuses or fair raises), watch the CEO squirm, squint and skip around like Peter Pan—all while getting to eat your boxed lunch on your lap like a common criminal on work release. Not a lot of opportunities for minorities or women. The pay scale for those demographics isn't in line with male counterparts. Overall it's just a horrible, toxic, soul crushing, depressing work culture. Don't drink the Kool-Aid. You've been warned, you'll regret it. There are so many better opportunities in Richmond. Companies that actually value employees and pay them accordingly.
