Pros

They keep you busy in the lab all day. The work/life balance is reasonable for the type of work that we do. The work environment is fairly relaxed. The only time anyone rushes is when deadlines are at play. As long as we approach the project properly from the beginning this often isn’t too big a problem.

Cons

Communication has a tendency to become garbled amongst everyone involved in a particular project.

We are happy that your work/life balance is good, especially in this new Covid era of evolving responsibilities. We understand that a matrix style management can cause issues with communication as each department has certain needs, and this has been a focus with the new training programs. We do have an open-door policy, so if it every gets too frustrating, please reach out to HR who can facilitate a discussion on ways to improve feedback from different team members….

Pros

Employees are reminded regularly that they’re indispensable assets to the company. You actually feel like you matter here, as opposed to feeling like you could be replaced by just anyone who walks in for an interview. I’m not saying you don’t have to earn your keep. Good work ethic is one of the most important traits of a good employee no matter where you work. However, knowing that your contribution actually matters is a great motivator to keep at it day after day.

Cons

You can only advance so far up the chain of command before you hit a wall.

I encourage you to speak to your manager about your career aspirations. Together, you can build out your Individual Development Plan to address any developmental needs you might have as you prepare for future assignments.

It’s a good job that pays decent. If you’re looking for a work environment where you can develop professionally, this is as good a place as any. Regular interaction with clients is a good way to listen effectively to meet their needs and develop customer service skills.

Cons

A raise would have been nice, but it was still competitive.

We are sorry that you decided to leave before we announced that the 2019 merit increases for non-executives which had been previously postponed had been reinstated, and that a special bonus was also paid out to thank our essential workers for their many contributions and efforts throughout these Covid times….
