Pros

Some of the greatest people in Boone work here. It allows you to live in a lovely (albeit expensive) area. A lot of people care a lot about what they do and no one is slacking. Pay is decent for the area and industry. If you like job security, no one ever stops needing groceries, and ECRS supports that industry!

Cons

Leadership suffers from alignment being related to a person rather than a set vision, goal or target market. Meaning whatever the CEO desires at that time is most important or valuable. Regardless of if that new desire goes against some previous thing. Success can be defined by being liked by the CEO or disliking someone not in good graces, or blaming someone for a problem that happens rather than shared ownership. If you are okay with politics or blaming others before anything bad falls on you, you can succeed, and heavily. One instance that stood out to me, was watching a particular individual petition against a decision/direction made on a project, be told to disagree and commit to the CEO alignment call. They did so, and then got blamed several months later, for letting the decision get made. In addition they were told, if they disagreed so heavily they should have challenged, and clearly "did not care about their job or company enough to push back". It was appalling to watch. This company could be great instead of mediocre. It has access to so much talent.

Pros

The co-workers really make the job worth it. Probably the best place for IT work in Boone, you can learn a lot.

Cons

The pay is low compared to other jobs in the field, 47,500 a year and you are micro managed regularly by people who have never held the position which creates a lack of understanding between management and the workers. On top of that other departments look down on the support department, People regularly leave because pay is not competitive and people do not get promoted out of support. A good place to learn and then leave for a better job unfortunately.

Thank you for your review. The Core Support team offers multiple incentive programs and clearly defined career paths with transparent salary ranges to recognize performance and support long‑term growth. Some feedback reflected perceptions of micromanagement and a desire for more hands‑on technical experience in day‑to‑day leadership, which led to clearer role definitions and stronger technical leadership within the team. Career development was further strengthened through the introduction of a Technical Support career ladder, regular one‑on‑one discussions, and clearer goal setting. Core Support developed a strong reputation for talent, to the extent that other departments were at times asked not to actively recruit from the team due to high demand for its employees. Notably, the President and several key technical leaders previously worked within Core Support, reinforcing its role as a foundational team within the organization, alongside ongoing efforts to increase visibility of Support initiatives and successes across the company.

Talented Teams Undone by Leadership

Pros

Colleagues are some of the most talented, dedicated, and collaborative people you’ll find. Mid-level managers often work hard to shield their teams from constant upheaval. The first impression of the company can feel very positive, with a sense of mission and shared drive.

Cons

Compensation lags behind market standards and rarely reflects the additional responsibilities employees take on. Leadership is heavily top-down, with priorities and metrics shifting frequently, making it difficult to succeed or feel secure. Managers are regularly overextended, pulled into basic work due to high turnover, leaving little time for true leadership. Recognition is inconsistent: training, certifications, and added responsibilities rarely translate into fair pay or advancement. Culture rewards those who conform to leadership’s shifting demands, while employees who question or push back often find themselves marginalized. Burnout is a constant risk due to unrealistic expectations, unstable targets, and limited support.

At ECRS, our mission and core values emphasize the importance of creativity, innovation, meaningful work, and personal empowerment. We actively seek out experienced professionals whose expertise can help drive our products and company forward. We believe in rewarding employees based on merit and performance. Compensation is thoughtfully aligned with each individual's role, qualifications, experience, level of responsibility, and contribution to our mission—rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. ECRS maintains a remarkably low turnover rate, well below industry standards. Our average employee tenure is seven years, with many team members celebrating 10, 20, and even 30 years of service. We prioritize placing the right people in the right roles—including leadership positions. Ensuring strong alignment between talent and responsibility is central to our long-term success.
