Pros
Knowledgeable Team and Access to Corporate Knowledgebase
Cons
Most companies realize the carrot is better than the stick; not ECS. They take the approach of monitoring every job responsibility down to the minutiae (client contacts, proposal age, daily document reviews, individual productivity, AR collections, and many other aspects). The office and each individual in that office is penalized and disincentivized if any one of those criteria fall short of expectations. They opposite is not true. The financial incentives to perform well are minimal and far less than is promised to employees. There are opportunities for promotion if you meet stringent criteria - professional civil, geotech, architect, or environmental engineer. There is also a popularity contest involved with getting promoted or being selected as a principal. Don’t worry about applying if you have a degree in construction management, construction technology, geology, or other degrees in which professional engineering-related certification isn’t an option. There is no flexibility in earning promotion without time spent specifically within the consulting industry. If you’re a military veteran, think twice about joining this company. They’ll thank you for your service and then damn you for not being born with a silver spoon in your mouth.
